Borobudur has 25 tourist agendas throughout 2017
Not only Banyuwangi is packed with events throughout the year, Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko Temple Tourism Parks are also planning to hold 25 events throughout 2017.
"The management of the Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko Temple Tourism Parks has scheduled 25 events in 2017. They include culinary delights, cultural activities, entertainment, and sports. The events will be held at Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko Temples," explained Hiramsyah S Thaib, Head of the Ministry of Tourism's 10 Priority Destination Acceleration Working Group, as quoted by DetikTravel.

In addition to these 25 events, every month, on the second Saturday, there is a Kidung Karmawibangga dance drama performance performed on the temple grounds. "It will be performed on the open stage at Lumbini Park in Borobudur Temple," said Sucoro, founder of the Brayat Penangkaran Borobudur Foundation.
Edy Setijono, President Director of PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko, is optimistic that these dozens of performances will attract tourists. It's even possible they could surpass the Angkor Wat tourist market in Cambodia, which welcomes over 2,3 million international tourists annually.
Moreover, Edy said, Borobudur has many added values compared to Angkor Wat. Among other things, it is more respected as a cultural heritage site and has been listed by UNESCO.
For visitor convenience, PT Taman Wisata Candi (TWC), the manager of the Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko temples, will implement a visitor management technology system. The application will allow for proper management of visitor traffic.
"This technology application can regulate the length of a visit, perhaps around 30 to 40 minutes. We are currently continuing to study the most appropriate time for tourists to spend at the temple," Edy concluded.
