To attract tourists during the low season, the provincial government launched "Jateng Wow" (Central Java Wow).

The Central Java Provincial Government launched "Jateng Wow" to attract tourists to several tourist attractions in the region. The government is targeting a 20 percent increase compared to the program that was in effect during the low season of February and March 2018. Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo officially launched "Wonderful World (Wow)" or Jateng Wow at the Wisma Perdamaian (Peace House) in Semarang on Tuesday evening (January 30, 2018).
"This is a promotion in preparation for the public's holiday. So, when they're on holiday, they can already see alternative tourist destinations in Central Java. This is also a tourism warm-up," said Ganjar. "Jateng Wow" offers and introduces several tour packages to tourists. Some of Central Java's top destinations will be introduced, including Borobudur Temple, Karimunjawa, Sangiran, and the Semarang City Tour.
This program involves at least 148 parties, including hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, and transportation providers. Travelers participating in "Jateng Wow" will receive discounts on tour packages, hotel rates, entrance fees to tourist destinations, regional souvenirs, and special prices from KAI, Citilink, and Garuda Indonesia.
"This low season, we're creating activities to encourage people to come. They're bringing discount parties, and local tourists are coming to keep hotels empty. Local tourists still have the opportunity to express their happiness at tourist attractions," said Ganjar.
