BRI Prioritas Mahakarya Borobudur 2018 presents "Indonesia Berkain"
Borobudur Masterpiece was held again by PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur (TWC), Magelang, Central Java, Wednesday (18/4/2018) evening. This time the magnificent event on the Aksyobya stage of the Borobudur Temple courtyard raised the theme "Indonesia Berkain". In accordance with the theme, Borobudur Masterpiece featured a fashion show of batik as the pride of the Indonesian nation. The batiks were historical works from maestros such as KRT Hardjonagoro Go Tik Swan, H KPH Santoso Doellah Hadikusimo and Afif Syakur. Renowned designers showed off their batik creations in a wealth of beautiful and elegant clothing. They were Musa Widyatmojo, Chossy Latu, Tuty Adib, Danjo Hiyoji, Amanda Hartanto and Purana. This Cultural Event was to celebrate World Heritage Day and commemorate Kartini Day.
The Borobudur Masterpiece series, supported by BRI Prioritas, was beautifully packaged in harmony with professional dancers directed by choreographers Eko Supriyanto and Ananta Kanapi. The magnificent stage backdrop of Borobudur Temple added to the epicness of the event. The Borobudur Masterpiece Event Coordinator, Ayu Dyah Pasha, said that "Indonesia Berkain" is not only a batik fashion show, but also a collaboration of the arts, namely theater, music, and visuals. "We collaborate all to showcase the beauty of Indonesian batik," said Ayu. The batik works displayed are divided into three concepts, namely past, present, and future batik. She mentioned that past batik showcases the work of batik maestros such as Gotic Swan, Afif Sakur and others. For present batik works by Iwan Tirta, Tuti Adib, Musa Widyatmojo, and others. "Meanwhile, future batik showcases the work of millennial designers, we give them space to express their imagination about batik," said Ayu. The Marketing and Cooperation Director of PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur Prambanan and Ratu Boko, Ricky SP Siahaan, explained that this year's theme is Indonesia Berkain, which is synonymous with women. This is because Indonesia will soon celebrate Kartini Day on April 21, 2018. "The theme chosen for the 2018 Borobudur Masterpiece focuses on batik cloth: 'Indonesia Berkain'. We want to re-show Indonesia's identity, which used to be clad in batik," he explained.
In addition, the Borobudur Masterpiece also coincides with the celebration of World Heritage Day which is celebrated every April 18th. "Batik is one of Indonesia's cultural heritages recognized by the world. For this reason, we align batik with Borobudur Temple which is also a world cultural heritage," said Ricky. Ricky hopes that this activity will resonate throughout the world, and play a role in encouraging the achievement of the target of tourist visits from all over the world to Indonesia. Bank BRI Consumer Director, Handayani, added that the Borobudur Masterpiece 2018: Indonesia Berkain is a support from Bank BRI in the Tourism sector and improving the economy of the surrounding community. "Borobudur Temple has become a world heritage, this activity is a form of our support to continue to maintain its sustainability and advance Indonesian tourism," explained Handayani.
