Commemorating World Heritage Day 2018, Head of BPCB Central Java Sukronedi Invites the Community to Work Together to Preserve World Heritage
Today, Friday, April 13, 2018, the Central Java Cultural Heritage Conservation Center (BPCB) held an event to commemorate World Heritage Day. In this event, the Central Java BPCB together with Buddhists held a joint prayer event and temple cleaning activities at Sewu Temple. The event, which was attended directly by the Head of the Central Java BPCB, Sukronedi, took place solemnly. and full of togetherness.
"Today's activity is in order to commemorate World Heritage Day which falls on April 18, 2018. Actually, World Heritage Day was established by ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites) in 1982, then UNESCO also established it at the 22nd General Assembly in 1983 and Indonesia itself has celebrated this World Heritage Day since two or 3 years ago. " said the Head of the Central Java Cultural Heritage Conservation Center, Sukronedi.
In the event, Sukronedi also said, "The activities we do here are one of them inviting Buddhists to be able to perform prayer rituals, then they carry out conservation of Sewu Temple, on April 18 we also invite school children around Prambanan Temple to campaign for World Heritage Day and how we invite them to preserve the temples around here. So indeed this World Heritage Day as mandated by ICOMOS and UNESCO is to increase public awareness in efforts to preserve and teach the noble values contained in the World Heritage itself. "
In addition, on April 18, 2018, BPCB Central Java will also invite school children to broadcast on Radio Taman Wisata Candi to share their pride in having World Heritage around them.
“With the many foreign influences, we try to explain and provide information to the younger generation, especially school children, that they should be proud of having world heritage around them. The world heritage that we have is not an easy job to become a World Heritage Site. A World Heritage Site is a site that is not only recognized by Indonesia, but also recognized by the world because of its enormous importance. The world recognizes it, so we should be proud of it. Our hope is, let us together preserve this World Heritage, because preservation is not only from the government but also from the surrounding community. "said Sukronedi.
In addition to the joint prayer and temple cleaning activities today, BPCB Central Java will also hold a 2018 World Heritage Day Roll Call and a World Heritage Day Campaign by watching the film "The Great Monument in the Valley of the Gods" together, a joint broadcast on TWC Radio and a talk show on April 18, 2018 by inviting high school students around Prambanan.
