Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Launches Start of Mandiri Jogja Marathon 2018

Mandiri Jogja Marathon 2018, Rini Soemarno, "This is very good, it really increases public awareness of Prambanan"

A total of 8.000 runners took part in the Mandiri Jogja Marathon (MJM) 2018. In addition to national runners, there were also runners from 22 countries who took part in this sporting event in the Pramanan Temple area, Sunday, April 15, 2018.

Runners from 22 countries participated, including from Malaysia, Japan, Kenya, Brunei Darussalam, Ireland, India, China, Brazil, Singapore, the Philippines and Australia.Some categories in this running race are full marathon (42,195 kilometers), half marathon (21 kilometers), 10 kilometers, and 5 kilometers. The total prize is Rp 746 million.

"I think this is very good. This year the number of participants has increased, so it shows that it has begun to be recognized nationally and internationally. I think this is very good. Also, this program between Mandiri and TWC (Taman Wisata Candi) has greatly increased public awareness of Prambanan," said Minister of SOEs Rini Soemarno.

On this occasion, Rini Soemarno also took part in the 5K run after previously taking part in the half marathon session together with a number of Bank Mandiri and TWC (Taman Wisata Candi) officials.

"This is an annual event organized by Bank Mandiri in collaboration with TWC (Taman Wisata Candi), this is part of our efforts to introduce Prambanan Temple to the wider community and we see thank God today almost 8.000 participants took part in this marathon run. This is a good activity and God willing it will become an annual event. Hopefully the current participants can communicate it to the runner communities, both 5K, 10K, Half Marathon and Full Marathon. Next year they can join again in this Mandiri Jogja Marathon. The route chosen is also very good because it passes through the countryside, the air and atmosphere are still very fresh. " said the President Director of PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko (Persero) Edy Setijono.

The implementation of Mandiri Jogja Marathon this year also raises and promotes the richness of culture and local products. The goal is to spur the development of tourism and economic growth in Yogyakarta and its surroundings. The start and finish are done around the north of Ramayana Prambanan. The route taken through 9 villages passes through rice fields and temples which are very interesting and become a new experience for the runners.
