Cash for Work Program in Sambeng Borobudur Village

Running Cash for Work Program in Sambeng Borobudur Village, Taman Wisata Candi and Patrajasa Become Leading Tourism Development in This Region

PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko (Persero) together with PT Patrajasa implemented the Cash for Work Program in Sambeng Village, Borobudur District. This Cash for Work Program is a contribution to the series of events commemorating the 20th Anniversary of the Ministry of SOEs. The implementation of this Cash for Work Program involved around 500 residents of Sambeng Borobudur Village to open and pave a 902-meter long farm road.

"This Cash for Work program is implemented in the framework of Kartini Day by two BUMNs, namely Taman Wisata Candi and Patrajasa. The goal is that we will build around 902 meters of road that will connect 5 hamlets surrounding Sambeng Village. As we know, this area is an extraordinary cultural heritage called strek art which in Indonesia is the only one left in this village. " said Special Staff II of the Minister of BUMN Judith Jubilina Dipodiputro

Judith added, "The hope is that with the Cash for Work Program, the target is to increase people's purchasing power, secondly, it also provides jobs for village communities, income for village communities, and in the long term, we hope that we will help develop this area into a community tourism area with its superior product, the art of strek."

The Temple Tourism Park is the leading tourism development in this area together with Patrajasa.

“Temple Tourism Park together with Patrajasa is the first to lead the development of tourism that we will do in this area. Furthermore, Pupuk Indonesia will also be involved, which plans to design and build the Balkondes (Village Economic Hall) together with the community. Because we see the artistic value of this strek is extraordinary, we will also ask Balai Pustaka to document it in writing, then also the National Film Company to help with visual documentation. Strek is related to music, so we might later ask Lokananta to record the audio of this art. This year we estimate the construction of the Balkondes can be completed. " added Judith.

Meanwhile, the Marketing and Service Director of PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko (Persero) Ricky SP Siahaan said that it is the responsibility of state-owned companies to help improve the economy and welfare of the surrounding community through BUMN Hadir Untuk Negeri.

"As we know, BUMN is a state-owned company that has responsibilities and can collaborate with the community as a real manifestation of the presence of BUMN in the community in order to help improve the economy and welfare of the community. So that the presence of a BUMN company can really be beneficial for the community around where we work. Taman Wisata Candi manages Borobudur Temple, so the villages around Borobudur become part of the stakeholders of TWC itself. Therefore, it has become an inseparable part of TWC to be able to help develop the villages around it. " explained Ricky.

"The future plan is for several villages around Borobudur to become tourist destinations so that tourism can occur to the surrounding villages and hamlets. In this village we see that there is agrotourism that we can develop and become an attraction later for tourists to come here. " he concluded.
