Candi Tourism Park, BPCB DIY & 600 High School Students Hold Prambanan Temple Cleanup

To celebrate World Heritage Day 2018, BPCB DIY and PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko (Persero) together with 600 high school students around Prambanan conducted a temple cleaning activity. This activity is an effort to campaign for the preservation of cultural heritage to the current young generation.
“Every year all world heritage sites are celebrated by all people of the world on World Heritage Day. Today we celebrate in Prambanan. I leave a message to all of you, that preserving world heritage sites is our shared responsibility. It is not only the responsibility of the site managers or the government but all of us, our shared responsibility,” said UNESCO Representative Dyana Setyawati.
“These children are the next generation who will also determine conservation efforts in the future. Moreover, today's theme is Heritage for Generation. This world heritage site belongs to all of us to be passed on to the next generation. I really appreciate the DIY BPCB, Central Java BPCB and Taman Wisata Candi who have been managing the Unesco world heritage site in collaboration with the community.” Added Dyana Setyawati.
Meanwhile, the Head of the DIY Cultural Heritage Conservation Center, Ari Setyastuti, said, “Today we commemorate World Heritage Day 2018, which is actually on April 18, but we have several activities in Borobudur and also in Prambanan. For Prambanan, it will be held on April 25, we also involve 600 students around Prambanan, SMAN 1 Kalasan, SMKN 1 Kalasan and SMA 1 Prambanan. We do involve them because so far we have invited schools in the Prambanan area to become cadres of cultural heritage conservationists and we form Saka Widya Budaya. They will later transmit, promote and campaign to other young generations to love cultural heritage more and participate in preserving, developing and utilizing the cultural heritage that we love, especially Prambanan Temple.”
Ari Setyastuti hopes that through this activity, students can take the noble values that exist in this area.
"We invite our students to do community service and later also go around the temples around Prambanan, to Lumbung, Bubrah and Sewu Temples and also from this activity students can take the noble values that exist in this area. The values of discipline, hard work, creativity, innovation and of course mutual cooperation. The value of mutual cooperation is also a value that really needs to be implemented in the daily lives of today's youth so that our country is a great unitary state because of that harmony." Ari Setyastuti said.
GM of Prambanan Unit Aryono Hendro invited the younger generation to work together to love and preserve cultural heritage.
"We have several activities in the series of World Heritage Day, especially yesterday it was held in Borobudur, and currently one of them is in the form of community service with students. This is one of the series. This is an activity that we support by Taman Wisata Candi (TWC). We as managers are very happy with this activity, one of which is that our young generation gets a lesson to love the world cultural heritage that we have. This will foster a sense of pride for them and of course there are values that may later be learned from this lesson such as discipline and knowledge in Prambanan Temple. Let us be proud of the World Heritage that we have. Then let us together love and of course help preserve this heritage and use it for the common good for the prosperity of society. "said Aryono Hendro.
