TWC Provides Decent Housing Assistance to 90-Year-Old Widow

BUMN Present for the Country, TWC Provides Livable Housing Assistance to a 90-Year-Old Widow Who Supports 5 Grandchildren in Gunungkidul

PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko (Persero) through the PKBL Division again provided assistance in the form of a Decent House. As part of the BUMN Hadir Untuk Negeri Program, this time the Decent House assistance was given to Mbah Diyem, a 90-year-old widow who supports her 5 grandchildren alone, in Dusun Trenggono Lor, Sidorejo, Ponjong, Gunungkidul, DIY.

"Mbah Diyem is a poor person, her life is not prosperous, in this case, during my tenure as a hamlet for 17 years, I have sought assistance through related agencies and services but have not been successful. Mbah Diyem is the backbone of the family whose daily life is as a farm laborer to meet the needs of her 5 grandchildren. When she was old, Mbah Diyem's life depended on her younger sister, Mrs. Kanem, who is also a farm laborer. Currently, both of them are elderly," said the Head of Trenggono Lor Hamlet, Sumilan.

According to Sumilan, Mbah Diyem's house is not habitable and often leaks when it rains.

“As the hamlet head, I have tried, one of which is by giving some of my food to feed my children and grandchildren. Thank God, with the assistance from PT TWC, it might change the lives of Mrs. Diyem and her family. Her house is not habitable. Even when it rains, it gets wet because there are many leaks. There are no bedrooms in this house so some sleep on the floor. With the assistance from TWC, I hope Mrs. Diyem's house will be habitable so that later her grandchildren will continue the struggle of Mrs. Diyem and Mrs. Kanem to be able to have a decent life. As the hamlet head, I express my deepest gratitude because my residents received this assistance, I hope TWC will receive an appropriate reward from God. Together with the residents, we will mobilize our energy as a form of support to PT TWC which has provided assistance in the form of a habitable house for Mrs. Diyem." Sumilan explained.

Meanwhile, Head of PKBL Division of PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko (Persero) Bambang Sarwo Eddy said, "PKBL in accordance with the Ministerial Regulation provides assistance to the community. All are in 7 sectors, one of which is the social community sector. This time we provide assistance to Mbah Diyem. Mbah Diyem herself is a widow, a grandmother who supports her own grandchildren because her grandchildren's parents have died. Mbah Diyem is assisted by her younger sibling to support them. We are certainly touched to see conditions like this. Assisted by Koramil and Dukuh here, they have been trying to find assistance since 2001 until now, about 17 years they have been trying. Alhamdulillah PKBL TWC is here. I am grateful that PKBL TWC can provide assistance to Mbah Diyem. Hopefully this assistance will be remembered, Mbah Diyem in her old age can enjoy a more decent life than now with her new house later. Mbah Diyem can be called the modern Kartini, with all her limitations, she supports and protects her grandchildren so that they are able to survive. Hopefully this can be an example that the spirit of survival is something we must hold on to. "

Mbah Diyem herself felt very happy with the assistance she received from TWC.

“I am 90 years old. I am very happy. Alhamdulillah, I am very happy that this house was built for me. Hopefully I can live longer to live in it. I had one child and he passed away. So I only live with my grandchildren. I used to have 6 grandchildren but 1 passed away. When I was still strong, I was a farm laborer but now I can't do anything. I used to make mats and then sell them to feed my grandchildren. I only want this house to be good and my grandchildren don't get rained on because my house keeps leaking. Thank you TWC. " said Mbah Diyem.
