Visit of Indonesian and Thai Foreign Ministers to Borobudur

Visit of Indonesian and Thai Foreign Ministers to Borobudur, Ricky SP Siahaan "We Cooperate in Promotion to Increase Tourist Visits"

In order to promote the Borobudur Temple tourist destination, today Friday, July 6, 2018, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi invited Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai to visit the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park. Marketing and Service Director of PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko (Persero) Ricky SP Siahaan said that Thailand is expected to be the market pursued to visit Borobudur.

"What we actually hope for the most is the exchange market, as the Minister of Foreign Affairs said earlier. Actually, the number of foreign tourists visiting here is less than Indonesians visiting Thailand. We actually need to improve how to get more tourists from Thailand to visit Borobudur, plus there are also a lot of foreign tourists visiting Thailand, how we hope this will become the market we are pursuing to be able to come here. The way is as we said earlier, we cooperate in promotion and in increasing visits together, we increase visits here and there and we attract tourists from here and there with various strategies that we do for that. "said Ricky.

Ricky also expects the function of the Indonesian Embassies to be the spearhead of Indonesian tourism promotion.

"Earlier, the Indonesian ambassador to Thailand also said that he was very welcoming, we will visit there and he will facilitate to meet, gather with tour operators and wholesalers in Thailand. Our Indonesian Embassy there will be the spearhead in promoting destinations in Indonesia. This is actually something that we expect the function of our Indonesian Embassies abroad to be strategic partners in promotion in addition to the duties and functions of the Ministry of Tourism which of course is their task for promotion." He added.

Ricky also said that he would visit first to see the things that will be collaborated with Thailand and several other countries to form Twin Heritage.

“We first visited to see what we can collaborate with the heritage sites there, but for that collaboration we need a legal umbrella like G to G, the MOU is passed down to B to B, like with India yesterday we already had a legal umbrella, namely the MoU between the Indonesian Minister of Culture and the Indian Minister of Culture. Well, this was then passed down to B to B between TWC and ASI in India, namely between the Taj Mahal and Prambanan. So this will be a kind of Twin Heritage, in several countries that have this World Heritage, we will later collaborate to become a model in cooperation with countries that have World Heritage. We will call it Twin Heritage later. Like now what we are building with Sri Lanka, we are building G to G then later it will go down to B to B. We will implement a derivative of G to G with India yesterday, we will carry out PKS with ASI. ASI is the manager of the Taj Mahal. So we have agreed on the draft of the PKS, the agreement has been approved by both parties. We just have to set the time later in October. " he concluded.
