Unification of the Asian Games Flame at Prambanan Temple, Jusuf Kalla “This is the pride and honor of Indonesia”
Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla tonight led the unification of the eternal flame from India and the eternal flame from Mrapen in a series of Torch Relay Concert events at the Brahma Field, Prambanan Temple Complex, Sleman, Special Region of Yogyakarta ahead of the 18th Asian Games.
"On August 18, 2018 we will hold the 18th Asian Games. After more than 20 years, we have just held it again in our beloved Indonesia. That is why this event is a source of pride after holding the Asian Games for the second time. This Asian Games means first of all an honor for all of us. And also of course to show our abilities both in terms of building sports venue infrastructure, our ability to organize and God willing our ability to excel in sports. These three things are very important," said Jusuf Kalla.
According to Jusuf Kalla, this fire symbolizes the spirit of organizing and achieving Indonesian sports.
"Tonight we will start the Asian Games torch procession which has combined the fire from India as the first Asian Games organizer and the fire from Indonesia which certainly gives us spirit. The meaning of the fire is spirit, giving us spirit that only with a burning soul will we succeed in organizing the Asian Games and also the sporting achievements." Added Jusuf Kalla.
Jusuf Kalla also hopes that the Asian Games torch relay can inspire the Indonesian people to make the Asian Games a success.
“Hopefully, the Asian Games torch procession that will cross 18 provinces and 54 cities can provide the spirit and soul of devotion and the spirit of struggle to all the people to support the implementation of this Asian Games. Because with that spirit the nation will progress. There is no advanced nation without spirit. The spirit of sports, the spirit of development, the spirit of struggle are all very important for this nation. We hope that everything is successful and of course an honor for all of us. " he said.
