Promoting Borobudur, Foreign Minister Retno .M Invites Thai Foreign Minister to Visit Borobudur

Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi today, Friday, July 6, 2018, together with Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai visited Borobudur Temple Tourism Park. This is part of an effort to promote Indonesian tourism, especially Borobudur Temple tourist destinations, to the international world, one of which is Thailand.

"Just finished a bilateral meeting with the Thai Foreign Minister and delegation in Jogjakarta, and on this occasion I also want to invite him to see Borobudur, because the Thai people are Buddhist and Borobudur is the largest Buddhist temple and coincidentally we are currently focusing on developing tourism cooperation. So how do we synergize including tourism promotion between Indonesia and Thailand. So for example, tourists who come to Indonesia can also come to Thailand or vice versa. So in order to work on joint tourism promotion," said Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi.

Retno Marsudi also said that the forms of tourism promotion cooperation could vary.

“Earlier above, I met a lot of tourists from Thailand. So once again, it is in order to promote Borobudur as a tourist destination for both local Thai people and foreign tourists who come. We have 10 New Balis and we also have Bali. But what is very close to their culture, to their beliefs is Borobudur Temple because they are Buddhist. Of course, the forms are various. It can be religious tourism, it can be packaged in 1 package. Therefore, I brought the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Delegates from various agencies to see Borobudur directly. " he added.
