First Time, Mandiri Jogja Marathon Held for 2 Days
Entering its 4th year, the Yogyakarta Special Region Provincial Government together with Bank Mandiri is again holding an international marathon event in Yogyakarta to encourage the growth of the tourism sector in Indonesia. The running race titled Mandiri Jogja Marathon 2020, which is competing for a prize of more than IDR 1 billion, will be attended by 12 thousand runners from within and outside the country.
Mandiri Jogja Marathon will be held in the Prambanan Temple area for 2 days, March 28-29, 2020 which falls on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, the running race held is the 5K and 10K categories with a total of 7 thousand runners. While on Sunday, March 29, 2020, the Half Marathon and Full Marathon categories will be held with a total of 5 thousand runners. One of the reasons for this time division is to maintain the Prambanan Temple heritage area which may not be visited by more than 8 thousand visitors at the same time.
According to Vice President of Corporate Communications of Bank Mandiri, Rudi As Aturridha, the enthusiasm of running sports fans for this event is truly extraordinary.
"We will continue to improve the quality of Mandiri Jogja Marathon so that in the future this event can become a permanent calendar for runners from various countries, especially since the public's enthusiasm to participate in this event is very high, as shown by the increasing number of participants from 7.500 last year to 12 thousand in 2020, where more than 80% of the participants came from outside Yogyakarta," said Rudi.
Corporate Secretary of PT TWC Emilia Eny Utari stated that TWC consistently collaborates to support the success of this event, where the start and finish locations are in the Prambanan Temple area.
"We as managers always collaborate to consistently support international events such as those held by Bank Mandiri," he said.
