Trial Reopening Operations with Visitor Restrictions at Prambanan and Ratu Boko Temple Tourism Parks (TWC)

PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko (Persero) conducted a trial opening of the Prambanan and Ratu Boko Temple Tourism Park (TWC) for tourists, Wednesday (1/7/2020). The opening of operations was carried out after a permit was issued by the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling Covid-19 of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) Province.

The trial permit for the opening of this operation is based on the success of the implementation of health protocols for visitors during the protocol simulation that has been carried out 3 times involving many related parties. The PT TWC trial is able to implement strict Health Protocols for visiting tourists.

The Head of the DIY Tourism Office, Singgih Raharjo, has given permission for a trial opening of operations in the TWC area, because PT TWC has implemented and prepared the implementation of the "New Normal" standards very well; He, who directly participated in the Health Protocol simulation event, believes that PT TWC can implement the Protocol professionally. "During the trial period, evaluation efforts will be carried out. Visitor restrictions must be implemented and become part of the stages of opening a tourist destination," he explained.

PT TWC itself will implement regulations and restrictions on the number of visitors. This step is in accordance with government recommendations regarding social/physical distancing for every tourist visiting the destinations it manages.

To reduce the queue of visitors at the ticket counter, PT TWC recommends that tourists make online purchases at ticket.borobudurpark.com. Direct ticket purchases are limited to 70 percent and the remaining 30 percent can be made through online reservations. Meanwhile, the operating hours of TWC Prambanan start at 08.00 - 16.00 WIB while Ratu Boko is at 10.00 - 18.00 WIB and there will be a 1-hour break to clean all health protocol equipment that has been used by tourists.

"During this trial period, as a precaution, we will limit visitors to 20 to 25 percent, or a maximum of 1500 people per day. The trial will be monitored by a team from the Regional Government. We hope this implementation can serve as a model for implementing health protocols in this New Normal era of tourism," explained PT TWC President Director Edy Setijono during a press conference on the trial reopening on Monday (June 29, 2020).

In implementing this visitor management, PT TWC will collaborate with the Yogyakarta Cultural Heritage Preservation Center (BPCB). In Zone I of the Temple, this will be carried out.
Visitor numbers are limited. Furthermore, tourists are not permitted to climb to the top of Prambanan Temple and can enjoy its beauty from the Zone 1 courtyard.

By conducting this operational opening trial, PT TWC hopes to have a positive impact on the environment and become a barometer for the revival of the tourism industry in Yogyakarta and Central Java during this pandemic.
