PT TWC CEO Invites Tourism Workers to Keep Tourism Atmosphere Alive

The tourism world has been greatly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The implementation of social restrictions for the community has made tourist destinations increasingly deserted by visitors. Not a few have chosen to close their tourist attractions due to the decline in tourist visits.

President Director of PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko (Persero) Edy Setijono invited business actors to keep the tourism atmosphere alive. According to him, it will be difficult for tourism actors to recover if they have closed tourist attractions during this pandemic.

"What we are worried about is that this tourism atmosphere will die. If it dies, it will be very difficult for actors to return to operating optimally after the pandemic," said Edy Setijono in a webinar broadcast via the BNPB Indonesia YouTube channel, Friday (29/1/2021).

PT TWC itself continues to open its managed tourist destinations such as Borobudur Temple Tourism Park, Prambanan & Ratu Boko. In addition, a number of restaurants such as Manohara Resto and Rama Shinta Resto continue to operate with strict health protocols.

"This is to keep the tourism atmosphere alive, even though the productivity is not the same as the original condition. This also keeps the accompanying businesses around Prambanan and Borobudur alive," he continued.

PT TWC remains optimistic about seeing the market potential in the future. Local tourists from the middle class and corporations are the hope for the tourism industry to continue running.

"We will pursue that direction. It takes encouragement for the Indonesian middle class and domestic corporations to spend their money in our destinations," he continued.

The President Director of PT TWC also hopes for the government's program in terms of independent vaccination. According to him, this program is a new hope for the Indonesian tourism world.

"When independent vaccination is carried out, this is an opportunity. It is hoped that with this independent vaccination program, the upper middle class will start to return to their activities, will be enthusiastic and confident in coming to tourist attractions," he said.

PT TWC hopes that through this vaccine program, it can revive people's consumption activities. "We hope that in the second semester of 2021 it will start to recover. In fact, we have planned several events in the second semester of this year. Although we are still looking at the situation and conditions," he said.

Edy Setijono also invited tourism actors to start improving and preparing their tourist destinations in accordance with applicable health protocol provisions.

“For now, let's prepare the destination,” he concluded.
