Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives Conducts a Working Visit to Borobudur

The delegation of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives conducted a Specific Working Visit in the field of Super Priority Tourism by holding a joint working meeting in the Awadhana Room, Manohara Borobudur, Magelang, Central Java, Friday (26/3/2021).

Deputy Chairman of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives Abdul Fikri Faqih, who acted as the leader of the group, said that this visit was carried out to see the development of the Borobudur destination and area which was designated as a super priority destination.

"We want to see firsthand the progress of the construction in Borobudur. Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives is now present to ensure that there are better changes as a result of the process that is currently taking place in Borobudur," said Abdul Fikri Faqih when opening the event.

According to the legislator from the Central Java IX electoral district, tourism is the backbone of the Indonesian economy. During the pandemic, Indonesian tourism also fell and became one of the sectors that suffered the most.

"After the pandemic, there is a new culture, namely the new normal. The new normal should have been running here. Through this, tourism can immediately recover gradually," he said.

Meanwhile, President Director of PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko (Persero) Edy Setijono said that the progress of the implementation of the development of the Borobudur area can be seen at this time. This is in accordance with what has been planned together with all stakeholders for the development of Borobudur.

"We can see how the infrastructure developed by the PUPR Ministry enters villages and provides easy access and supports the spread of tourists. We at the Ministry of SOEs are building Balkondes, focusing on the rural economy through the participation of village institutions through BUMDES to develop this. The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has made efforts to promote tourist villages. At least the economy can grow, not only in the temple area. Several main routes have emerged new businesses that directly involve the community," he explained.

PT TWC as the manager of zone II area at Borobudur Temple hopes that the momentum of this pandemic can strengthen relations between stakeholders to support tourism development, especially when the situation returns to normal.

"We from PT TWC are very confident in our collaboration. The government's target to advance Borobudur can be realized, even though it is hampered by the pandemic. The explosion of visits will occur in 2023. We should prepare for this momentum. Through collaboration, these two years can be utilized optimally," he concluded.
