TMII Hands Over 2 Crocodiles to Ministry of Environment

Taman Mini Indonesia Indah handed back two Sinyulong Crocodiles (Tomistoma schegelii) to the Ministry of Environment & Forestry (KLHK) of the Republic of Indonesia, Wednesday (18/8/2021). TMII through the Conservation Institute (LK) fully supports animal conservation efforts aimed at maintaining their safety and sustainability.

These two reptiles are animals that were entrusted to LK TMII by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in 2019 and 2020. These animals, which like fresh water such as rivers, swamps, and lakes, were saved by the community from attempts to smuggle wild animals.

"TMII also supports the government by being willing to temporarily care for the animals. This is our commitment, where LK TMII not only acts as an animal education center but also functions as a temporary conservation center for animals," said TMII Executive Director I Gusti Ngurah Putu Sedana.

Bird Park Unit Manager, Indonesian Reptile Park & ​​Komodo Museum TMII Piter Kombo explained that the crocodile with a pointed and narrow snout will later be released into the Betung Kerihun National Park area, Sentarum Lake, West Kalimantan.

"The condition of the animal after being treated for some time by LK TMII looks good. Its condition is healthy and fat," he said.

PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko (Persero) as the new manager of TMII fully supports the cooperation that has been established between TMII and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.

"TMII under the management of PT TWC is expected to contribute more to species conservation efforts in accordance with applicable laws and regulations," said Putu.
