PT TWC and KONI Synergize to Realize Sport Tourism in Indonesia

PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko (Persero) as a manager of cultural heritage-based tourism destinations, develops Quality-Wellness Tourism and supports sports tourism in Indonesia. This is realized in collaboration with the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI).

"This program is one part of the realization of quality tourism. We are trying to program sport tourism that combines quality tourism, wellness and sport tourism," said PT TWC President Director Edy Setijono.

PT TWC collaborates with KONI to synergize to develop sports tourism in the PT TWC management area. President Director of PT TWC Edy Setijono together with KONI Secretary General Tubagus Ade Lukman signed a cooperation agreement at the Prambanan Ramayana Theater & Stage, Tuesday (30/11). The cooperation agenda includes the development of sports tourism, sports industry and sports science.

"We agree to synergize to present unique and quality tourism so as to create a new market that is in demand by the community, especially during the pandemic. In addition, of course we support the efforts of the government and KONI to improve sports achievements and the tourism industry in Indonesia," continued Edy Setijono.

KONI Secretary General Tubagus Ade Lukman said that since two years ago, President Joko Widodo has encouraged various parties to develop sports tourism in Indonesia. "President Joko Widodo encourages the development of sports tourism, sports industry and sports science. What we are planning today is in accordance with the direction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia," he explained.

He optimistically welcomed the cooperation of PT TWC with KONI to present sports tourism in the Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko areas. "Our hope is that sports tourism will be vibrant again in TWC and ready to work together to promote sports activities," he added.

As an acceleration of sports tourism development, an MoU was signed between PT Metadata Integra Nusantara or SPORTBOC with PT Bhiva Visatanda Indonesia (a subsidiary of PT TWC) and the Sports Fund and Business Management Institution (LPDUK). Synergy is carried out in events that support sports tourism in Indonesia.
