Central Java Governor Inaugurates Borobudur Edupark
Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo inaugurated Borobudur Edupark, Magelang, Central Java, Sunday (9/1/2022). The rides initiated by PT TWC in synergy with the management of PT Nakula Sadewa Design Art and the Borobudur lovers community aim to connect destinations in the Borobudur Temple area and Magelang Regency.
During his visit, Ganjar Pranowo appreciated the new tourism activities in the Borobudur area. Tourism activities are not only to the temple, but tourists can enjoy art, dance, and products from residents around Borobudur.
"Thus, Borobudur and its surroundings will encourage people to attend because they want to be happy, joyful, want harmony to be created and hopefully Borobudur Edupark is part of the contribution to creating that harmony," he said.
Borobudur Edupark owned by artist Nyoman Alim Musthapa presents the story behind his artistic activities such as carving, selecting stones and shaping them. Tourists join in the practice, so there is a transfer of technology and knowledge.
"People who come here will get a detailed explanation of the construction structure of Borobudur Temple, how the stones are connected and so on," he said.
Artist Nyoman Alim Musthapa said that since Borobudur Temple was completed, no one has inspired him to create more and more.
"Finally I tried to make this edupark. It happens to be continuous with PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko (TWC) as the manager of Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, so we cooperate with PT TWC so that tourists who cannot go up to Borobudur Temple can enjoy it here," he said.
He said that the education offered at Borobudur Edupark includes making your own work or being taught, whether from stone, clay, cement, and so on.
"Here we can show how difficult it was, for example, to create the Borobudur Temple with more than 3.000 reliefs, how to carve them, and what tools were used," he said.
Borobudur Edupark with an area of 2,5 hectares, contains, among other things, monument statues that Nyoman has made throughout Indonesia, including the statues of Soedirman, Soekarno, and Prince Diponegoro as well as a number of statues made in several countries including miniatures of Angkor Wat.
Marketing and Service Director of PT TWC Hetty Herawati explained that the existence of Borobudur Temple provides a lot of inspiration in the development of tourism in the buffer zone in Magelang Regency.
"Borobudur Edupark is a destination that emphasizes educational tourism and is packaged naturally with an outdoor garden concept. The element of empowering the surrounding community to improve the tourism economy in the Borobudur area is also our main focus," said Hetty.
According to him, Borobudur Edupark provides a new experience for tourists. "Strong potential in education and attractions as well as a strategic location on the main route to Borobudur Temple are the reasons for the creation of Borobudur Edupark," he continued.
The purpose of Borobudur Edupark is as a center for information and education for tourists before entering the Borobudur tourist area, increasing visitor awareness of the importance of preserving cultural heritage, introducing the noble values contained in the reliefs of Borobudur Temple, and introducing works of art inspired by Borobudur Temple.
