PT TWC Donates Pulpit and Mihrab to Mardliyyah Islamic Center UGM

PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko (PT TWC) through its Environmental Social Responsibility (TJSL) program donated a pulpit unit along with a mihrab to the Mardliyyah Islamic Center (MIC) located in the Gadjah Mada University complex, Sleman, Yogyakarta, Friday (14/1/2022).

This activity is a form of support for mosques that function as centers of Islamic value education for the wider community.

President Director of PT TWC Edy Setijono directly handed over the pulpit and mihrab grant to the Vice Chancellor for Cooperation and Alumni of UGM Prof. Dr. Paripurna, SH, M.Hum., LL.M. who was accompanied by the Chairman of Takmir MIC Achmad Munjid.

"We are grateful for the grant that supports the goal of this mosque as a center of civilization, or Islamic Center. Not only functioning as a place of worship, but also a center for learning Islamic knowledge later," explained Prof. Paripurna.

Chairman of Takmir MIC Ahcmad Munjid said the pulpit has a key role in making the mosque a center for spreading Islamic values.

"In the time of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, after the mosque building was formed, then what was then made was the pulpit. This means the existence of the pulpit is important for the mosque itself," he explained.

The pulpit made of teak and sungkai wood has 3D calligraphy ornaments made of anti-rust. In addition, the pulpit has ornaments made of granite and stainless steel that match the ornaments of the mosque. Meanwhile, the mihrab made of teak wood consists of 99 asmaul husana made of anti-rust material.

"The pulpit is an important element and must be a unity with the mosque itself. In addition, the pulpit must have its own uniqueness that reflects the mosque itself," said Edy Setijono.

In 2020, PT TWC through its Environmental Social Responsibility (TJSL) participated in the construction of this MIC. PT TWC hopes that the construction of this mosque will provide broad benefits to the lives of the general public.

"The construction of mosques and Islamic centers is a program that is worthy of our support as a BUMN," he continued.
