Caring for the Environment, PT TWC Invites the Community to Plant 500 Trees on Less Productive Land
PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko through the Environmental Social Responsibility (TJSL) program planted 500 trees in Pandan Tempel Hamlet, Joho Village, Prambanan, Klaten, Central Java, Tuesday (29/3/2022). The action carried out to commemorate World Water Day is expected to help maintain the sustainability of groundwater in the surrounding area.
Corporate Secretary of PT TWC Emilia Eny Utari together with Acting Head Auditor of Internal Widaryanti, Manager of TJSL Ismiyati, the Environmental and Forestry Service of Klaten Regency, Head of Joho Village Yulis Tanto, Forkopimcam Prambanan and community elements consisting of the Women Farmers Group, Karang Taruna, Pokdarwis and Disaster Response Volunteers carried out joint planting on 1000 meters of land on the banks of the Randukucir River, Joho, Klaten.
The trees planted include alligator avocado, gayam, dwarf coconut, soursop and banyan. The selection of these tree species is adjusted to the characteristics of the soil and its benefits for the community in the future.
Joho Village Head Yulis Tanto expressed his gratitude for the assistance provided by PT TWC. The Joho Village Government together with all elements of society are committed to caring for and preserving these plants.
"There is already a plan to develop a tourist village here. The plants planted here can be the embryo of the plan," he explained.
Yulis Tanto also hopes that this assistance can be expanded, considering that in the north of this planting location, there is a Jolontoro spring (belik) which is still actively utilized by 300 families. This planting is expected to help maintain and preserve the natural springs in his village.
"Hopefully, this planting can preserve and maintain the sustainability of the natural springs that appear in Joho Village," he said.
Corporate Secretary of PT TWC Emilia Eny Utari stated her commitment to support the greening program for the sake of preserving nature and the environment.
"We hope that this year it will not only be in Joho village. There will be several points that can be approximately 3 thousand trees spread across several villages so that they can provide benefits to the environment," he said.
