Balkonjazz Festival 2022 Supports Economic Recovery of Communities in the Borobudur Area
Balkonjazz Festival is present at Gasblock Balkondes PGN Karangrejo, Borobudur, Magelang, Central Java, Saturday, May 14, 2022. This rural-themed music festival in the Borobudur area is enlivened by performances by Kahitna, Pamungkas, Rendy Pandugo, Adhitia Sofyan, Dere, Juicy Luicy, Raissa Anggaini, Coldiac, and Megantoro. The festival is also a space to introduce and market local products by economic activists of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and promote local destinations around the Borobudur Temple area.
"The Balkonjazz Festival is a real activity in supporting and developing an independent and environmentally friendly community economy," said the Corporate Secretary of PT Pertamina Gas Negara (PGN) Tbk, Rachmat Hutama at a press conference at the Truntum Café Gasblock Balkondes PGN Karangrejo, Borobudur, Magelang, Friday (13/5/2022).
Deputy President Director of PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia, who also represents InJourney Festival, Edwin Hidayat Abdullah, gave his support for the success of the 2022 Balkonjazz Festival. As a holding ecosystem in the aviation and tourism sector in Indonesia, Edwin said that InJourney feels that collaboration with events like this is very important.
"Here, it is important to make efforts that can revive the tourism sector, one of which is through holding events such as the Balkonjazz Festival which I think can be duplicated with the atmosphere in other destinations such as Lake Toba, Likupang, Labuan Bajo, and Mandalika," he said.
President Director of PT Taman Wisata Candi (TWC) Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko Edy Setijono said the Balkonjazz Festival is one of the real efforts in introducing non-temple destinations. Borobudur as one of the 5 Super Priority Destinations of Indonesia, according to Edy, its tourism development should not only be centered on one place or temple tourism.
In line with TWC's vision as an Indonesian Heritage Management Corporation, the implementation of the Balkonjazz Festival is still in the same spirit to develop tourist destinations in the Borobudur area.
"Of course, in the future, the Balkonjazz Festival can also narrate and introduce to the public local wisdom and heritage potential in the place where it is held," he said.
Founder of Balkonjazz Festival and promoter of Sinergi Live Bakkar Wibowo explained that this festival is to support the growth of local economic activities through entertainment performances. He feels that the involvement and participation of local communities is very necessary. This is realized by presenting the Balkon Market.
"We present the Balkon Market which has been attached to the Balkonjazz Festival. This market is specifically designated and managed by local residents to sell all local products. This is where the synergy of an entertainment party that provides benefits to the local community will emerge," he said.
The same thing was also conveyed by the Director of Bhiva Indonesia Jatmika Budi Santoso, who hopes that the Balkonjazz Festival can become an annual ritual that is always awaited by music lovers and local economic activists. "Now we hope that the Covid-19 trend will continue to decline so that the activities of artists and creative workers will grow even more. This is where our commitment to developing the destination and MICE business will continue to grow," he said.
