High Interest of Students Visiting Borobudur Temple

Students' interest in visiting Borobudur temple in Magelang Regency, Central Java, is relatively high during school holidays. Marketing & Sales Vice President of PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko (PT TWC) Pujo Suwarno said that visitors to Borobudur Temple are around 5.000-7.000 people per day and on weekends it can reach 7.000-9.000 people per day.

"During this school holiday, many groups of students visit Borobudur," said Pujo, who is also the Temporary Deputy General Manager of the Borobudur & Manohara Unit in Magelang, Sunday (26/6/2022).

According to him, the visit of school children from morning, afternoon, until evening, was quite crowded, even though it was raining they were still enthusiastic to visit Borobudur Temple. He said the group of students were not only from Central Java, but also from West Java and East Java. In fact, some of them were groups from outside Java.

Pujo said that during the Covid-19 pandemic, his party continues to implement strict health protocols for visitors. Visitors must use the application CareProtect to be able to enter. During this pandemic, he said, the tourist visiting area is still limited to only the temple yard.

The entrance ticket price for Borobudur Temple Tourism Park for adult/general domestic tourists is IDR 50 thousand, tickets for child/student domestic tourists are IDR 25 thousand, tickets for adult/general foreign tourists are 25 US dollars, and tickets for child/student foreign tourists are 15 US dollars.

The government canceled the plan to increase the ticket price to set foot in Borobudur Temple by Rp 750 thousand. The cancellation of the ticket increase was carried out after the plan was rejected by the public.
