PT TWC CEO: Borobudur Drives Tourism Ecosystem Growth
The participation of PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan, & Ratu Boko in developing tourism potential in the Borobudur Temple area, Magelang, Central Java, has attracted the attention of many parties, especially the Semarang City Government. The Semarang City Government, represented by the City Development Advisory Council (DP2K), visited the Borobudur Temple area, Saturday (13/8/2022).
One of the objectives of DP2K, whose members are academics from several universities in Semarang, Central Java, is to encourage Joglosemar agglomeration efforts and how to treat tourism sectors to support growth, especially for the city of Semarang.
"We hope that with this agenda, it can provide enlightenment and insight to the DP2K team who will later participate in the creation of Semarang city government policies related to tourism potential." Said the Head of Semarang City Bappeda Budi Prakosa in his speech at the technical visit at Balkondes Ngaran, Borobudur, Magelang, Saturday (13/8/202)
President Director of PT TWC, Edy Setijono, said that Borobudur was developed based on a regional concept, like Bali, which is one tourism ecosystem. This is in accordance with the direction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo who has scheduled the development of the Joglosemar tourism area.
"In accordance with the president's direction regarding the 10 new Balis, we have prepared the Joglosemar masterplan. When the President designated Borobudur Temple as a Super Priority Destination, we immediately carried out development in four areas, including accessibility & infrastructure, accommodation, attractions & promotions, and no less important community development," he explained.
The President Director of PT TWC hopes that there is a common vision in realizing the development of Borobudur and also the Joglosemar tourism ecosystem. In the future, Borobudur, which is a magnet for foreign tourists entering Indonesia, can help spread foreign tourists to other regions so that visiting time becomes longer in Central Java-DIY. This will encourage economic growth, both in terms of tourism and MSMEs in the region.
"Borobudur is not developed into a single destination. Borobudur is the main magnet of the tourism ecosystem in the region. Its large corridor, namely the Joglosemar area, must also develop," he continued.
Meanwhile, Head of Bappeda Semarang City Budi Prakosa added that the activation of Joglosemar must be utilized optimally. This aims to encourage economic growth, both in Semarang and other areas.
"The tourism sector has a wide and reaching multiplier effect, both the upper, middle and lower classes are all affected by its benefits. Hopefully, in the future we can all optimize the potential to develop the economy in Semarang in particular and Joglosemar in general," he said.
Also present at this event were the Director of the Borobudur Authority Agency, Agustin Peranginangin, Corporate Secretary of PT TWC AY Suhartanto and Plt GM of the Borobudur Unit Pujo Suwarno.
