PT TWC Supports the Implementation of the 2022 Jogja Mandiri Marathon

After being postponed for two years, the international marathon event titled Mandiri Jogja Marathon (MJM) 2022 was held again in the Prambanan Temple area. This annual race was attended by around 6.000 participants from various regions in Indonesia.

Mandiri Jogja Marathon 2022 presents the natural beauty of the Prambanan Temple area with a panorama of a rural atmosphere that is still pristine and well-maintained. In this UNESCO World Heritage area, participants are also presented with the beauty of the Prambanan Temple Compounds including Loro Jonggrang Temple, Sewu Temple, Lumbung, Bubrah.

"As a cultural city, this Marathon event is expected to be able to raise and promote its cultural richness at the international level so that it can increase tourism in Yogyakarta, and of course Indonesia. We will continue to strive to improve the quality of the Mandiri Jogja Marathon so that more runners will participate and attend in Yogyakarta and become a catalyst to support the implementation of other marathon events in Indonesia," explained Bank Mandiri President Director, Darmawan Junaidi in Yogyakarta, Sunday (14/8/2022).

This event competes in the categories of Marathon (42 Km), Half Marathon (21 Km), 10 Km and 5 Km. In MJM 2022, Bank Mandiri together with the DI Yogyakarta Provincial Government are also trying to raise and promote the richness of local culture and products.

President Director of PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudir, Prambanan & Ratu Boko Edy Setijono hopes that the 2022 Mandiri Jogja Marathon can spur the development of tourism and the economy in Yogyakarta and its surroundings, especially in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) segment.

"A multiplayer effect will occur with these events. We hope that this can also spur the regional economy," he said.

As a manager of a cultural heritage-based tourist destination area, PT TWC also schedules sport-tourism events in its area. This can stimulate tourism and the local economy in the area.

"MJM 2022 is certainly the biggest sport tourism event and is able to become a magnet for tourist visits to the region and stimulate the economy, especially for regional MSMEs," he concluded.
