PT TWC Plans to Classify Tourists Visiting Borobudur Temple
PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko (TWC) will divide tourists visiting Borobudur Temple into two types, namely regular and special.
TWC President Director Edy Setijono explained that for regular tourists, they will only be able to be in the temple courtyard, and will not be able to climb to the top of the temple. The amount of the ticket that will be charged for regular tourists is IDR 50 thousand for domestic tourists and US$ 25 dollars for foreign tourists.
"So this ticket is still exactly the same as the current one. There are no changes, only access is limited," said Edy in a Hearing with the DPR, Monday (22/8).
Meanwhile, special tourists are divided into 2 types. First, special tourists who can go up to the temple without being charged. They are state guests, namely ministers or ambassadors.
Then the leader of the religious ceremony and every Indonesian citizen who has received permission from the single authority management body will take care of the management of Borobudur Temple.
Second, special tourists, who pay Rp750 thousand for local tourists and US$100 for foreign tourists, can climb to the top of the temple. In this case, TWC limits the maximum number of visitors who climb to the top of the temple to 1.200 people per day.
"If you don't have a specific destination but still want to go up to the temple, you will have to pay a fee," said Edy.
Edy added that the government is currently discussing the formation of a single authority management that will manage the arrangement of the Borobudur area. Later, the agency will be regulated in a presidential regulation (Perpres) which is targeted to be completed by the end of this year.
"In recent times, a cross-ministerial coordination meeting led by the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment has led to the formation of... single authority management," said Edy.
