Encouraging the Creative Economy Sector, PT TWC Provides Assistance to MSMEs in the Borobudur Temple Area
PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko is committed to participating in encouraging the growth of creative economic potential through innovation and collaboration in the tourist destination areas it manages. This step is taken to present quality and competitive products in order to create job opportunities and boost the local economy in the area.
PT TWC through its Environmental Social Responsibility (TJSL) program held an Optimization incentive workshop Branding, Packaging and Digital Marketing for MSMEs at Balkondes Borobudur, Magelang, Monday (22/8/2022). The activity which took place on 22-23 August 2022 was attended by 30 participants consisting of MSME actors in the field handicraft and culinary in the Borobudur Super Priority Tourism Destination (DPSP) area.
Head of the Magelang Investment & Integrated Services Agency (DPMTP) Joko Sudibyo, Corporate Secretary of PT TWC AY Suhartanto, Borobudur Sub-district Head Subiyanto, Head of TWC SPI Aryono Hendro Malyanto, Acting GM of TWC Borobudur Unit Pujo Suwarno and Acting TJSL & SME Founding Manager Ismiyati directly opened this MSME workshop.
In his speech, Corporate Secretary of PT TWC AY Suhartanto explained that the form of PT TWC's concern through TJSL aims to improve the optimization of branding, packaging and digital marketing towards independent and upgraded MSMEs. This is an obligation for BUMN to continue to assist creative economy business actors, especially in the super priority tourism destination area of Borobudur.
"This effort is one of the obligations that we must do in collaboration with all parties to encourage MSMEs to move up a class. We are optimistic, with the synergy that we actively do, we can develop high-quality products and later encourage economic growth in the region," he explained.
Head of the Magelang Investment & Integrated Services Agency (DPMTP) Joko Sudibyo said that Borobudur, which has been designated as a Super Priority Tourism Destination (DPSP) by the Indonesian government, has made tourists' expectations when visiting higher. This certainly needs serious attention to develop the creative economy as one of the supporters of the tourism industry in the region.
"Borobudur has received attention, both locally and internationally because Borobudur is a world-class tourist attraction. So, MSMEs need to balance their destinations and make changes to become world-class businesses," he explained.
In this training, participants learn about optimizing branding, digital marketing strategies, improving packaging that attracts customers. In addition, in collaboration with the Investment & Integrated Services Agency (DPMTP), participants are guided on how to properly conduct business legality.
"No matter how good the packaging is, if there is no legality, it is guaranteed that there will be no consumers. This training will lead business actors in Borobudur to move up a class," continued Joko Sudibyo.
In line with that, AY Suhartanto added that PT TWC as a member of BUMN Holding Tourism and Aviation, InJourney, encourages UMKM players and their fostered partners to move up a class. This is realized by providing training materials that are incentives and in accordance with the needs of business actors, especially in the digital era like today.
"Currently, business actors are required to further optimize the role of social media as an effective and efficient marketing tool. In this workshop, participants will be taught to recognize and practice directly about digital marketing," he continued.
Borobudur Sub-district Head Subiyanto said that the synergy of various parties to improve MSMEs will realize the welfare of the surrounding community.
"There is a moral responsibility related to mutual progress. We really hope that this opportunity can be taken seriously by business actors so that the material can be maximized and later help to develop," he said.
