Cultural Parade Enlivens G20 Agenda at Borobudur Temple

The Cultural Parade and Giant Meeting entitled "Nyawiji Nunggal Rasa" which was attended by two thousand residents from various villages in the Borobudur area also enlivened the G20 Cultural agenda which was held from September 7-13, 2022. A total of 20 ogoh-ogoh made from banana stems, corn husks, and coconut fibers were adapted to the characters carved on the reliefs of Borobudur Temple.

The Cultural Parade and G20 Giant Meeting consist of four activity segments, namely; the 'Bangun Tuwuh' Rite at Pawon Temple, the 'Mulih Pulih' Cultural Parade from Pawon Temple to Borobudur Temple, the 'Nyawiji' Giant Meeting at Lumbini Park, Borobudur Temple, and the 'Golong Gilig' Art Parade.

The series of parades began in Kembanglimus Village, which featured an elephant icon. Then followed by Tuksongo Village with chicken, Kenalan Village (turtle), Majaksingi (crocodile) and Ngadiharjo Village (tiger).

Then there are the villages of Karanganyar (swan), Giripurno (beetle), Candirejo (lion), Ngargogondo (wild boar), Wringinputih (peacock), Giritengah (horse), Kebonsari (bull), Bumiharjo (buffalo), Tegalarum (wolf), Sambeng (garuda), Tangjungsari (monkey), Borobudur (rhinoceros), Wanurejo (golden deer) and Karangrejo Village with the dragon icon.

"All of them (icons) come from our inspiration, Borobudur Temple. All of the fables are in Borobudur Temple. After conducting research and so on, it turns out that each village has a correlation with the meaning behind the animals. Earlier there was strength, saving, tolerance and so on, so of course the animals are symbols of local wisdom inspired by the reliefs of Borobudur Temple," said the Director of Development of Cultural Personnel and Institutions, Directorate General of Culture, Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology, Judi Wahjudin, Monday (12/9/2022).

Magelang Regency Secretary Adi Waryanto said that the Magelang Regency Government continues to encourage any activity including cultural processions as an effort to foster creativity and innovation in the community in Borobudur. "We will collaborate with all elements and components," said Adi.

PT TWC fully supports the steps taken by various parties to grow the performing arts in the Borobudur Temple area. The growth of quality performing arts will be an attraction for tourists and support the realization of quality tourism destinations in Central Java.

"As part of the BUMN Pariwisata InJourney holding, we fully support programs that aim to grow the pulse of arts and culture in Borobudur and can accelerate the growth of performing arts in Borobudur," concluded AY Suhartanto.
