TWC CEO: Balkondes is a Model for Developing People's Economy in DPSP Borobudur
The President Director of PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko said that Balkondes is one of the models for developing the people's economy in the Borobudur Super Priority Tourism Destination (DPSP) area. He conveyed this in front of 260 members of the DPC APDESI (Association of All Indonesian Village Governments) of Sukabumi Regency, West Java, at the Post-Pandemic Economic Recovery Field School event at Balkondes Borobudur, Magelang, Central Java, Thursday (20/10/2022).
"Balkondes was established with the aim of being a showcase for the regional economy in Borobudur and its surroundings. The three functions of Balkondes include as a shop activity, a showcase for economic activities, and as a new activity center for village communities. In Borobudur there are 20 Balkondes, with a variety of potentials each that are a tourist attraction," he explained.
Village area development is also based on factors that influence its growth. Edy Setijono said that ecosystem development can be done together to make it easier to accelerate the potential of existing villages. In addition, collaboration between various parties also accelerates this development process.
"The keyword is ecosystem. So what is developed is the ecosystem. Ladies and gentlemen must first learn government policies before agreeing to move forward together and make plans for the development of each village area," he explained.
Balkondes managed by BUMDes is expected to be the driving force of the rural economy. Director General of Economic Development and Investment in Villages, Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration of the Ministry of Villages Ministry of Villages Harlina Sulistyorini conveyed several strategies in post-pandemic village economic recovery.
"Village heads can encourage transformation through village economic recovery strategies, including revitalization of BUMDes, digitalization of the village economy by collaborating with global e-commerce, food security for village communities and village cash-intensive work," he explained.
The Head of the APDESI DPC for Sukabumi Regency, Deden Deni Wahyudi, appealed to the seminar participants who were village heads and village officials throughout Sukabumi Regency, West Java to observe, imitate and modify to be developed in their respective villages.
"We want to learn together here. We really hope we can adopt what Borobudur Village, Magelang has done," he said.
