Indonesian Vice President Appreciates Conservation & Utilization Efforts in Prambanan Temple Area
Indonesian Vice President KH Ma'ruf Amin accompanied by the President Director of PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko Edy Setijono, Corporate Secretary of PT TWC AY Suhartanto and VP HSSE PT TWC I Gusti Putu Ngurah Sedana toured and reviewed a number of cultural heritage sites in the Prambanan Temple Tourism Park area, Sunday (11/12/2022).
During this visit, the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia appreciated the sites included in the world heritage Prambanan Temple Compounds. According to him, as a legacy of the past, the Prambanan Temple complex is still well maintained to this day.
"First, I appreciate that our past heritage can be well maintained. I see buildings that were actually destroyed can be reconstructed, although the number that needs to be restored is quite a lot. In Prambanan alone, there are up to 200, not to mention Sewu Temple and others," he explained.
According to him, the preservation of this world cultural heritage site can be an inspiration to serve and work for the country. "This shows that the Indonesian nation has long had a high culture. Therefore, this can be an encouragement, motivation, for us to be able to work as a better nation," said Ma'ruf Amin.
Furthermore, Indonesian Vice President KH Ma'ruf Amin also appreciated the harmony and tolerance reflected in the sites at the TWC Prambanan destination. The values of religious code are also reflected in the social culture of the community who still appreciate the relics of cultural heritage objects.
"Although the majority of the people around here are Muslim, the Hindu and Buddhist heritages are still maintained, cared for, and even well cared for. It also shows that religious tolerance in Indonesia is very high, and harmony is also very well maintained," he said.
According to the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, tourism in Yogyakarta will soon recover after the pandemic, especially since Yogyakarta has traditions that are an attraction for both local and foreign tourists.
"With the addition of Prambanan which is getting better, better maintained, I think there will be more tourism in Yogyakarta (tourists) and the government is indeed targeting one of its priorities to develop tourism," said the Vice President.
Meanwhile, President Director of PT TWC Edy Setijono said that efforts to preserve cultural heritage sites are one of the magnets for tourist visits to the Prambanan area. Conservation of the ancillary temples, both in the Prambanan Temple complex and the Sewu Temple, supports the increase in quality tourism in the area.
"The Vice President also implied, if possible, to accelerate the reconstruction of the temples. In addition to conservation efforts, this is also for the sake of tourist attractions in the area," he concluded.
