Series of Waisak Day Celebrations "Full Moon Festival" at Borobudur Temple Carrying Heritage in Harmony
PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero) or InJourney and its subsidiary, PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko (TWC), support the best preparation for the implementation of the Tri Suci Waisak 2567 Buddhist Era (BE) celebration. The national celebration centered in the Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur area, Magelang, Central Java is an important moment to unite the spirit of collaboration of various parties and elements of society in order to promote Borobudur Temple as a world-class spiritual destination.
The Tri Suci Waisak Celebration 2567 BE at TWC Borobudur was held thanks to the cooperation and support of various parties, namely the Ministry of Religion, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, the Ministry of SOEs, Walubi, the Mahanikaya Indonesian Buddhist Religious Council, the Central Java Provincial Government and the Magelang Regency Government and other related stakeholders. Thousands of people and the public are expected to attend the sacred procession of the Waisak ceremony at this world cultural heritage destination.
InJourney together with TWC as the manager of Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko Temple Tourism Park ensures the readiness of facilities and infrastructure to receive the presence of thousands of people and the community who are enthusiastic about participating in the series of Waisak activities in the Borobudur Temple area. TWC continues to coordinate with various parties, both the local government, related agencies and community organizations to play an active role in making this celebration a success which is then expected to be able to provide an economic impact on the surrounding area.
As part of this year's Waisak activities, InJourney and TWC also appreciate the spiritual journey of 32 (thirty-two) Thudong Bhikkhus by covering and accompanying the journey to the final destination at Borobudur Temple. The community warmly welcomed this spiritual journey from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport until it reached Borobudur Temple ahead of the peak moment of Waisak on June 4, 2023.
"Borobudur Temple is a frame that knits the spirit of tolerance and togetherness to realize a solemn, conducive, and comfortable Waisak ceremony for the congregation and the community who enthusiastically follow the procession. This moment is a symbol of the revival of Borobudur's spiritual values, echoing the spirit of tolerance in the diversity of Indonesian society to realize harmony in diversity," explained the President Director of PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko, Febrina Intan.

Of course, by holding a series of Tri Suci Waisak celebrations, it will be a manifestation of Borobudur Temple's position as a spiritual tourism destination and become a catalyst for world tourism to realize economic growth for the community around Borobudur Temple.
Maya added that this year's Tri Suci Waisak celebration will be different from previous years. After going through the pandemic, this year tourists can witness a series of Waisak activities at Borobudur Temple that are more diverse than previous years. Collaborating with TWC and Walubi, at Borobudur Temple, various side event activities have been prepared by Walubi, including Social Service (Free Medical Treatment), Nyingma Monlam Indonesia, Merti Karuna Bumi Festival, Borobudur World Peace & Prosperity Event, Bhumi Mandala Festival, Larung Pelita Purnama Sidhi Festival, Padmastana Cultural Parade from Mendut Temple to Borobudur Temple and Photography Competition.
In addition, TWC also prepares a supporting side event program for "Purnama" including the People's Market which will present UMKM, the launch of the film Muarajambi Bertutur to the launch of a book about Borobudur and at its peak, together with the Waisak Committee, a Lantern Release Ceremony will be held, which will be attended by some of the congregation and various levels and elements of society as the closing of the series of activities for the Tri Suci Waisak 2567 BE celebration at Borobudur Temple.
