Sunset Yoga Berkebaya, Sport Tourism Combined with Local Indonesian Culture

PT Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko Temple Tourism Park (TWC) is organizing events Sunset Yoga with Kebaya in the Ratu Boko Palace Tourism Park area, Sunday (20/8/2023). Sunset Yoga Berkebaya, which was attended by dozens of participants, was held in a unique way, namely participants wore red and white kebaya while doing yoga.

Sunset Yoga Berkebaya at TWC Keraton Ratu Boko was held thanks to cooperation and collaboration between PT TWC and two communities, namely the Indonesian Women Berkebaya Yogyakarta community and the Outdoor Yoga Yogyakarta. This event is presented to enliven the celebration of the 78th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia. In addition, this activity also participates in maintaining and preserving cultural heritage sites and popularizing traditional Indonesian clothing through activities that are healthy for the body and soul.

Sunset Yoga Berkebaya presents an impressive Yoga venue. The strong historical nuances, combined with a cool and beautiful atmosphere, support ambience Yoga that blends with nature. The environment and atmosphere of the place to do Yoga activities are very important elements. A place is needed that is full of tranquility and supportive natural conditions, so that participants can more easily achieve harmony of body and mind, and bring joy and peace of mind.

"The atmosphere at Keraton Ratu Boko is very suitable for doing Yoga. The natural conditions are very supportive, so we ensure that guests really feel relaxed. Chairwoman of the Indonesian Kebaya Women of Yogyakarta, Tinuk Suhartini said that there is a common thread connecting kebaya, yoga and the cultural heritage site destination of Keraton Ratu Boko. This connection encourages collaborative efforts in one interesting activity that is authentic and creative.

"There are many ways to campaign for the kebaya to become a... lifestyle or the lifestyle of Indonesian women. we see that currently yoga has become lifestyle many people. We want to show that while doing yoga we can still appear with style "which is very Indonesian, in an environment that supports Yoga activities, such as at Keraton Ratu Boko which we know is one of the leading destinations in Yogyakarta," he explained.

Yoga Coordinator Outdoor Yogyakarta Lilis Lusia welcomed the collaboration that sparked Sunset Yoga Berkebaya. She hopes that this activity can help preserve cultural heritage sites while also caring about mental and physical health.

"We thank the management of the Ratu Boko Palace Tourism Park for allowing us from two communities, who have the same ideals, namely to participate in preserving cultural heritage while also caring about mental and physical health. So we are given the opportunity to be present here," he said.

Yoga in Sanskrit means union, which means “union with nature” or “union with the Creator”. Yoga emphasizes the activity of meditation or tapa, where a person focuses all his mind to control his five senses and his body as a whole.

Yoga activities are done to have a calm and peaceful soul, to keep the body healthy and fit. The main goal of Yoga is to achieve Samadhi, which is a state where the mind becomes centered. In addition, Yoga can also relax the body and mind.

The Sunset Yoga Berkebaya activity in the Keraton Ratu Boko area presents Yoga instructors who will guide participants with Yoga material that involves physical activity, breathing exercises, relaxation techniques, and meditation exercises. Yoga is a traditional body exercise practiced by the Ancient Hindu community, not only training the physical, this activity is also useful for training the patience and discipline of the practitioners.
