PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko (TWC) supports the improvement of literacy index and interest in reading books in Indonesia. This is done by providing support in the form of reading books to five school libraries in Sleman, Yogyakarta.
PT TWC presents the Student Library Program to provide quality reading books in high schools and elementary schools in the Prambanan and Kalasan areas, Sleman, Yogyakarta. Some of the schools that received this assistance include SMA IT Baitussalam, SD N Delegan 1 and SD N Sumberwatu 1 in Prambanan District, Sleman, as well as SD N 1 Pakem and SD N 1 Bogem in Kalasan District, Sleman.
One form of PT TWC's Social and Environmental Responsibility Program (TJSL) is a form of PT TWC's support for increasing reading interest from an early age. This is in accordance with the values of the Sustainable Development Goals (TPB) or Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4, namely providing quality education in Indonesia.
TJSL & SME Founding Manager PT TWC Ismiyati held a ceremonial distribution of reading books to 5 schools in Sleman, Yogyakarta.
"We hope that through this assistance, school students will become more fond of reading. Reading is one way to explore the world. Hopefully, with the increasing collection of books in the library, children will be more motivated to continue learning," explained TJSL & SME Founding Manager PT TWC Ismiyati when handing over the reading book assistance, Thursday (7/9/2023).
The books given to schools cover various types of reading themes, including science, history, literature, religion and arts and culture books. In addition, through the Student Library Program, a set of history books from three cultural heritage sites managed by PT TWC were also given. These books are entitled magical Prambanan, Borobudur Majestic Mysterious Magnificent and Kraton Ratu Boko: A Javanese Site of Enigmatic Beauty.
"Hopefully these books will increase students' interest in loving cultural heritage sites and their history even more. Through this, students' knowledge will be more open and they will love their country even more," he continued.
Meanwhile, the Principal of SMA IT Baitussalam, Prambanan, Qomarudin said that this assistance adds to the collection of reading books in his school library. The existence of the library which currently has a collection of 2500 reading books with various themes provides learning facilities outside the classroom to increase students' knowledge.
"Hopefully, with the addition of our library collection, children will also be motivated to continue learning through reading books. Let's support the increase in literacy movements in Indonesia together," he concluded.
