PT TWC Distributes Clean Water to Residents Affected by Drought in the Borobudur Area
PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko (TWC) distributed 112 thousand liters of clean water to the community in eight villages in the Borobudur area, Magelang, Central Java. This assistance is a form of Environmental Social Responsibility (TJSL) which aims to ease the burden on residents, especially in meeting basic needs in the form of clean water for daily life.
PT TWC coordinated with volunteers from the Borobudur District Disaster Risk Reduction Forum (FPRB) to distribute clean water to 25 hamlets in eight villages including Wringinputih, Tegalarum, Giritengah, Karanganyar, Kembanglimus, Ngadiharjo, Majaksingi and Candirejo Villages.
The assistance of 112 thousand liters of water or equivalent to 28 water tanker trucks was presented to respond to the drought conditions experienced by residents in the Borobudur area and its surroundings. The need for clean water is a basic need used for various household needs.
"We are responding to the drought conditions experienced by residents by providing clean water. Hopefully, this assistance can ease the burden on residents and show our concern for the conditions of the community around the destination," explained Corporate Secretary of PT TWC AY Suhartanto.
Chairman of FPRB Borobudur Nur Fauzan said that for six months, the Borobudur area has not had high intensity rain, so that the water sources owned by residents are experiencing drought. This has also worsened the drought conditions that have hit residents in Borobudur.
"Almost three times a day we distribute clean water to residents. We continue to do this for months, until the rain falls with high intensity and for a long period of time, because in this area, even if it rains for a week, it is not certain that water will immediately appear," he explained.
Nur Fauzan said that the clean water assistance from PT TWC will be distributed for 8 days divided into eight villages in Borobudur. This assistance also meets the clean water needs of the Borobudur community.
"We continue to coordinate with PT TWC in reducing the impact of drought on residents. In addition to the need for clean water, we also synergize on transportation facilities in the form of tanker trucks to transport clean water which is also provided by PT TWC. Hopefully, this collaboration can continue," he explained.
Head of PremMonth Hamlet, Tegalarum Village, Borobudur, Rifai, expressed his gratitude for the clean water assistance distributed by PT TWC. The assistance of four thousand liters of water can meet the needs of 280 families in his hamlet.
"We are grateful for the assistance provided by PT TWC. Of course, this assistance can reduce the burden of residents, in meeting the needs of clean water for their families," he explained.
Previously, PT TWC also distributed five thousand liters of clean water for residents in Tungu Hamlet, Girimulyo Village, Panggang District, Gunungkidul, DI Yogyakarta. This is PT TWC's concern for residents affected by the drought disaster due to the prolonged dry season in Indonesia.
"We also hope that there will be synergy between various parties to solve the problems that always come every year. We can collaborate to present more sustainable solutions that can be utilized by the wider community," concluded AY Suhartanto.
