Woman in Action “TWC Speak Louder Work Better”, PT TWC’s Commitment to Providing a Safe and Comfortable Environment for Female Workers

PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko (TWC) continues to encourage the realization of a safe, comfortable, and free from discrimination and violence workspace for all parties, especially women. Protection of human rights and individual dignity is a top priority in building a constructive environment to present competent and professional individual performance.

This was initiated in the Woman in Action event “TWC Speak Louder Work Better” which took place at the Trimurti Building, Ramayana Theater and Stage complex, Sleman, Yogyakarta, Wednesday (29/11/2023). This event aims to echo the spirit of togetherness to support the commitment to upholding the dignity of women in the workplace.

On the same occasion, a Declaration of Commitment to Provide Women Workers' Protection Houses in the Workplace was also carried out. The provision of Women Workers' Protection Houses in the Workplace is an effort to provide a safe space for women in collaboration with the Women's Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control, and Family Planning Service (P3AP2KB) of Sleman Regency and the Manpower Service of Sleman Regency.

The Women Workers Protection House in the Workplace was presented to follow up on the Regulation of the Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Number 1 of 2020 concerning the Provision of Women Workers Protection Houses in the Workplace. The provision of this space is carried out to provide a sense of security and comfort, especially to women workers. This space is also a milestone in eradicating cases of harassment and violence against women in the workplace.

President Director of PT TWC Febrina Intan ensured her commitment in supporting the establishment of a safe, comfortable work environment so as to avoid violent and discriminatory behavior for all parties, especially for women. This is in accordance with the commitment of the Ministry of SOEs in the Respectful Workplace program to encourage a work environment that respects each other, and is free from gender-based discrimination and violence, especially against women.

"This responsive policy is designed to provide a safe and comfortable space for female workers. We must work together to achieve a safe work environment free from violence, harassment, and intimidation, mirroring the government's commitment to protecting women," she explained.

The policy of providing shelters for female workers aims to strengthen efforts to protect female workers, provide affordable handling and protection efforts for women, and provide space for collaborative work in handling the problem of violence experienced by women in the industrial sector.

This is also in accordance with the principles of the Sustainable Development Goals (TPB/SDGs) which are committed to the fulfillment of human rights and equality based on universal values, integration and inclusiveness.

"We will also form a task force to handle cases of violence that focuses on solving the problem. Later, workers who experience violence can report directly to the team. We hope that the participants who attend can be the spearheads in solving the problem of violence in the workplace. Let's invite other colleagues not to hesitate to speak up and find a place to complain. Furthermore, the team will conduct an investigation, training/socialization, and then a resolution will be made," he concluded.
