PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko (TWC) held a Food Vendor Waste Sorting Training and Practice program at Prambanan Temple on Tuesday (12/2). The activity, which was attended by fifty food vendors at Prambanan Temple, aims to increase public awareness of environmentally friendly culture through waste recycling efforts in tourist areas. PT TWC held this program for two days by presenting resource persons from the Head of Panggungharjo Village, Wahyudi Anggoro Hadi, Corporate Secretary of Pasti Angkut, Sholahuddin Nurazmy, and training facilitator, Anita Yuli Hastuti. The first day's activities were filled with Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on waste sorting. On the following day, waste processing training was carried out with a measurable curriculum including waste sorting training, waste sorting practices, and making special waste bins for coconut waste.
After the activity, traders will also continue to be accompanied through monitoring and evaluation aimed at seeing the consistency of waste sorting activities. The enthusiasm of traders at Prambanan Temple in participating in this activity is a form of shared commitment in maintaining the sustainability of the tourism ecosystem in Indonesia.
Corporate secretary PT TWC, AY Suhartanto, said that the implementation of this program is part of the implementation of social responsibility which is also stated in one of the cores of ISO 26000, namely responsibility for the environment.
"This activity is a form of the company's commitment to implementing sustainable tourism which is more environmentally friendly by minimizing the amount of waste produced per day. This is expected to help local governments by minimizing the burden of waste dumped into TPU. The Prambanan Temple destination can be an example of responsible waste management," he explained.
Furthermore, AY Suhartanto added that maintaining the sustainability of the destination is the responsibility of all parties who are active there, including managers, traders, and tourists. Through this training, it is hoped that every trader at Prambanan Temple will have the awareness to sort and select waste regularly. So that a comfortable and beautiful destination area is created to visit.
One of the training participants, Dwi Prihanto, said that this activity is important to raise awareness about the waste sorting process that has an impact on reducing the volume of waste that is thrown away. According to him, the involvement of various parties can have a significant impact in overcoming the waste problem at the Prambanan Temple Tourism Park destination.
"Let's work together to maintain cleanliness in the Prambanan Temple tourist area by maintaining and sorting the waste produced. The task of solving the waste problem is a shared task and we must bear it together," said one of the souvenir kiosk traders in the Prambanan TWC complex.
