Visit of 50 State University Professors: Deepening Education and Cultural Understanding to Prambanan Temple & Ratu Boko Palace
The Council of Professors of State Legal Entity Universities (MDGB PTNBH) conducted a special visit to the historical destinations of Prambanan Temple and Ratu Boko Palace (2/3/2024). This visit aims to increase academic understanding of the nation's cultural and historical heritage.
This visit is one of a series of activities of the MDGB PTNBH Plenary Meeting throughout Indonesia which was held in Yogyakarta from February 29 to March 3, 2024. This program is also a concrete manifestation of close cooperation between higher education institutions and World Cultural Heritage preservation institutions.
State Universities (PTN) in Indonesia have a central role in developing superior human resources and preserving the nation's cultural and historical values. In an effort to unite education with cultural heritage preservation activities, PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko (PT TWC) as the destination manager heritage support this visit as part of an effort to support the development of educational values that are in line with the pillars of cultural heritage utilization at TWC.
“This visit is in line with the pillars of destination utilization heritage "What we manage is the development of educational activities," explained Corporate Secretary of PT TWC AY Suhartanto, Saturday (2/3/2024).
In the presentation session, Corporate Secretary of PT TWC AY Suhartanto also explained the efforts made by PT TWC in managing and maintaining the historical site area, as well as how PT TWC prioritizes sustainability through responsible practices, including in environmental and social aspects, to ensure a quality experience for tourists.
During the visit led by Prof. Dr. M. Baiquni, MA, the Professors were invited to explore the cultural and historical riches stored within the Prambanan Temple complex and Ratu Boko Palace.
"This visit not only provides academic benefits, but also becomes an inspiration for Professors to continue to contribute in educating and building awareness of the importance of preserving and appreciating the nation's cultural heritage," he said.
In addition, the Cultural Preservation Agency (BPK) Region X provided in-depth insights into the preservation and conservation efforts that have been carried out to maintain the authenticity and beauty of Prambanan and Ratu Boko Temples. In addition, they also shared concrete steps as well as challenges and obstacles in maintaining cultural heritage sites.
After the presentation of the material which took place at the BPK Regional X office, the visit continued with an exploration activity of Prambanan Temple accompanied by the... who have in-depth knowledge of the history and meaning of Prambanan Temple as a famous world heritage site. Thus enabling the Professors to dig deeper into the rich history and culture embedded in Prambanan Temple.

The visit of PTN Professors to Prambanan and Ratu Boko Temples shows a shared commitment to preserving, appreciating and developing Indonesian cultural heritage as an inseparable part of sustainable national development," concluded AY Suhartanto.
