Encouraging Understanding of Fire Prevention, PT TWC Collaborates with Sleman Fire Department to Hold Fire Fighting Training
PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko held a training and refresher on fire prevention and disaster management in the work environment at Keraton Ratu Boko, Wednesday (6/3/2024). The training, which was attended by dozens of employees from the TWC Prambanan and Keraton Ratu Boko work units, also collaborated with the Sleman Regency Fire Department, Yogyakarta.
Acting Manager of Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) PT TWC Marjono explained that this activity is a form of anticipation of fire disasters as well as building responsibility to provide a safe and comfortable work environment for all parties.
"The purpose of this training is to provide education and knowledge about fire and burning, as well as how to overcome and control it when a fire occurs. This training activity also builds awareness of the importance of prevention and effective handling," he explained.
This training was filled with material delivered directly by the Head of Fire Prevention for the Sleman Regency Fire Department, Suwandi, covering the theory of fire formation, types of fires, types of fire fighting equipment, and efforts made to prevent fires.
In this activity, participants also practiced extinguishing fires on a small scale. Practical activities are carried out using traditional extinguishing equipment, including using towels moistened with water and also more modern extinguishing equipment such as Light Fire Extinguishers (APAR).
"We appreciate this activity, which is also in line with our agenda in empowering the community by building awareness for fire management. Given that firefighting is not only the responsibility of the local government, but the role of the community, the world of education, and the business world must also play an active role in handling disasters, especially this fire disaster," explained Suwandi.
One of the training participants, Caterine, said that she learned a lot about fires, both theory and practice, as well as how to prevent and deal with them.
"I think this training is very important and needs to be understood by every person so that they can be more aware of work safety, and can handle directly how to extinguish fires if a fire occurs in the work environment," he said.
Meanwhile, HSSE Officer Wahyudi, explained that this intensive program is held routinely every year and is carried out in all work units within PT TWC. In addition to fire prevention training, PT TWC also provides other K3 training.
"We hope that these trainings can be sustainable, understood and practiced directly by all employees. This is so that we can be more optimal in protecting ourselves, employees, visitors and company inventory and presenting a safe and comfortable work environment for all parties," he concluded.
