PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko (InJourney Destination Management), together with PT Angkasa Pura I as part of the state-owned holding company PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero) or InJourney Group, held the InJourney Hospitality House (IHH) program for hundreds of tourism industry players in Borobudur as a Super Priority Tourism Destination (DPSP). IHH is a manifestation of the commitment to open access to improve skills in hospitality and services with Indonesian characteristics. The IHH program was held from 29 to 31 May 2024, facilitated by professional trainers emphasizing the goal of presenting sustainable tourism in the Borobudur area.

The training was attended by 120 participants from three villages, namely Tegalarum Village, Kebonsari Village, and Kembanglimus Village, Borobudur District, Magelang, Central Java. The training participants included various professions, such as members of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis), BUMDes members, tourism village activists, Village Economic Center (Balkondes) activists, craftsmen, local tour guides, UMKM actors, farmers, and local village officials.

Held at the Morosuka Farmers Market, Tegalarum Village, Borobudur, this training program is designed so that tourism actors and MSMEs have broad insights and can apply excellent service standards that demonstrate hospitality so that they can become a memorable and quality experience for tourists.

Corporate Secretary of PT TWC, AY Suhartanto, explained, “InJourney Group strives to build public awareness of noble cultural values such as hospitality and mutual assistance, which are appropriate to be developed into characteristics of Borobudur as a tourist destination. We wish to continue to contribute to building this attitude through community empowerment in this area.”

GM of PT Angkasa Pura I Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA), Ruly Artha, added, "We are responsible for encouraging the creation of service standards that reflect Indonesian hospitality as part of the aviation and tourism ecosystem. Let's collaborate to improve our capabilities and competencies in welcoming tourists, both domestic and foreign, with services end-to-end from airports to tourist destinations.”

Head of the Tourism, Youth and Sports Office of Magelang Regency, Mulyanto, stated that the IHH training in Borobudur is expected to have a positive impact on the welfare of the surrounding community. "Tourism turns the wheels of the economy of the residents, not only those directly involved but also supporting sectors such as motorcycle taxi drivers and vehicle parking. Hopefully this training will have a double effect on the welfare of the residents," he said.

Borobudur Sub-district Head, Subiyanto, representing Forkopimcam emphasized the importance of excellent service at DPSP Borobudur. "This empowerment program is expected to build intensive communication between villages in Borobudur, local governments, and BUMN. Let us share information and collaborate to actualize each other's potential in everyday life, so that we can be good hosts for tourists."

Agustina Triningtiyas (19 years old), security unit (security), said, "This training is very useful, teaching us the basics of service such as how to communicate effectively and welcome customers. Hopefully we can immediately practice it with customers and tourists," said the participant from Kembanglimus, Borobudur.

Corporate Secretary of PT TWC AY Suhartanto said that IHH is part of building a tourism ecosystem, especially in the Borobudur Super Priority Tourism Destination area. "We are no longer talking sectorally, that this tourism is connected between YIA and the destination and surrounding areas. This also challenges us to prepare ourselves to face the challenges that are present in the tourism sector. Later, this tourism will also become a mainstay for the Indonesian economy," he concluded.
