Strengthening Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) Commitment, PT TWC Inaugurates 14th Decent Home in Klaten
InJourney Destination Management (IDM) which is widely known to the public as PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko (PT TWC) officially renovated an Uninhabitable House (RTLH) owned by Mr. Budi Widodo, a resident of Klaten Regency who lives in Dengok Kulon Hamlet, Bugisan Village, Prambanan District, Klaten Regency, Central Java. This house is the 14th as a special beneficiary in Klaten Regency.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Regent of Klaten, Sri Mulyani along with the ranks of the Regional Leadership of Klaten Regency, and the Director of Finance and Risk Management of PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko (PT TWC), Joel Siahaan who was accompanied by the Corporate Secretary Group Head, Ryan Sakti. The inauguration process was marked by the signing of the inscription, the symbolic handover of the house keys, which ended with a direct review by all invited guests.
The RTLH development program is part of PT TWC's Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) commitment which contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in eradicating poverty and improving the quality of life of communities around the destination.
Previously, Mr. Budi Widodo's non-permanent, dirt-floored house was his residence with his only daughter, Mutiara Bintang Nadila. Now, after being renovated, the 10×11 square meter house has changed drastically, and is equipped with two (2) bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, and bathroom, providing a better quality of life and comfort.
"We really appreciate PT TWC's initiative in the Livable House development program in Klaten Regency. This program is not only about providing more decent housing for residents, but also shows the company's concern for the welfare of the community around tourist destinations. Collaboration between local governments, companies, and communities is the main key to creating a better environment and supporting sustainable poverty alleviation. We hope that this program can continue to be expanded and provide wider benefits for the Klaten community," said Klaten Regent, Sri Mulyani.
Director of Finance and Risk Management of PT TWC, Joel Siahaan, in his speech said that collaboration with various parties, including local governments and local communities, is a concrete step in overcoming poverty through the provision of decent housing. This is in line with PT TWC's commitment as a tourist destination manager heritage to make significant social contributions.
"The construction of these habitable houses is a form of collaboration aimed at improving the welfare of the Prambanan community. As a BUMN, we are responsible for growing together with the community and actively participating in finding solutions to social problems. With the cooperation of various parties, we are confident that Prambanan will become a more prosperous and developed area," said Joel Siahaan.
Beneficiary, Mr. Budi Widodo, who works as a casual laborer, expressed his gratitude for the renovation of his house which was previously unhealthy, cramped, and prone to collapse. Now, he and his child can live in a safer and more comfortable residence.
"We are very grateful to all parties who have helped realize a decent home for us. We will take good care of this house so that it remains comfortable for our family to use," said Budi.
The management of PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko ensures that aspects of housing suitability, including building durability, sanitation access and adequate building area, are in accordance with the indicators. Sustainable Development Goals. The development of RTLH is also in line with Law Number 1 of 2011 concerning Housing and Residential Areas which stipulates that habitable houses must meet safety, health, and affordability standards for the wider community.
Since 2016 to 2024, PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko have built 47 habitable houses with a budget of more than 1,5 billion rupiah for the community in Central Java and DI Yogyakarta. In Klaten Regency itself, 14 houses of residents of Manisrenggo and Prambanan Districts have been renovated.
"We are committed to supporting the government's program to eradicate extreme poverty in Indonesia, and this is a small part of that effort," concluded Joel.
With this effort, PT TWC continues to play an active role in supporting communities around tourist destinations through sustainable programs that have a direct impact on their welfare.
