Temple Tourism Park Destination Celebrates National Batik Day
PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko (TWC) or InJourney Destination Management presents an enchanting experience entitled Batik District at the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park, Prambanan and Ratu Boko Palace destinations in order to commemorate National Batik Day which falls every October 2. Batik District is an activation program that invites communities and tourists to participate in celebrating batik as a legacy of the richness of the Indonesian nation.
All visitors will be invited to participate in celebrating National Batik Day in various events. Batik District presents events Batik Sarongs, Indonesian Catwalk, Happen and Batik Exhibition: Nurturing and Caring. Joint batik activities, batik exhibitions, batik workshops, batik fashion shows and art performances that highlight the beauty of Nusantara batik motifs are present at the destination.
"This program is presented to foster awareness of one of the UNESCO Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. Batik is not a mass product that is merely patterned without meaning. As a destination manager heritage, "PT TWC must be actively involved in preserving and developing cultural arts icons, as well as aspects of the noble traditional values contained in them," explained PT TWC Commercial Director Hetty Herawati, Wednesday (2/10/2024).
Visitors will be invited to join in making batik together in the Sareng-Sareng mBatik event at each Taman Wisata Candi destination. The management has prepared 15 meters of batik cloth at TWC Prambanan, 8 meters at TWC Borobudur and 4 meters at Keraton Ratu Boko with motifs taken from the ornaments of each temple. At the Taman Wisata Candi Prambanan destination, the celebration of National Batik Day every October 2 is also enlivened by the Nusantara Catwalk. The batik-patterned fashion show by designers from the Indonesian Fashion Entrepreneur Designers Association (APPMI) and Tapi.Aku.Suka Studio is a space to appreciate the potential work of talented fashion designers in Indonesia. Indonesian Catwalk which was enlivened by dozens of models and Dimas Diajeng from Yogyakarta City, was held in the middle of the concourse with the magnificent Prambanan Temple as a backdrop.
The Batik District in Prambanan Temple Tourism Park also presents the Klithik Batik Market as a showroom and buying and selling space that provides... booth batik, wastra, kebaya, various old clothes and antiques furniture quality local specialties. Activation activities in the form of ngulik batik (getting to know batik more deeply), games or just taking pictures in the Prambanan Market and Temple area is an attraction for people. In addition, there are giveaway for visitors to Prambanan Temple who wear wastra and/or batik cloth.
Not to forget, there is the Asuh Asih Batik Exhibition in collaboration with Tamasya Karsa which is a forum for young people to participate in preserving Batik and expressing themselves through Batik works. These works will be displayed in Prambanan from October 2 - October 6, 2024. For all visitors who want to appreciate them, they can also buy the Batik Clothing works on display.
"These diverse activities are presented to educate the younger generation and provide information to foreign tourists. Historical values, batik techniques, and the meaning of motifs need to be studied to provide a comprehensive and in-depth understanding and have an impact on the growth of cultural values and the nation's economic sector," concluded Hetty Herawati.
