Presenting Sport Heritage Tourism through Prambanan International Slopitch Tournament (PIST) 2024 

PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko collaborated with Partha Baseball Softball Club Yogyakarta to hold the Prambanan International Slopitch Tournament (PIST) 2024 at the Brahma Mandala and Siwa Mandala fields, Taman Wisata Candi (TWC) Prambanan from 3–6 October 2024. The Prambanan International Slopitch Tournament (PIST) 2024 will compete for the King Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X Cup for the category Champion Division and the KGPAA Paku Alam X Cup for the category President Division

Sports tournament slowpitch softball The first TWC Prambanan destination was attended by 16 teams consisting of 8 teams from Jakarta, two teams from Bandung, three teams from Yogyakarta, one team from Bontang and a representative from Thailand. The tournament began with preliminary round with a semi-competition system, consisting of 4 groups of 4 teams. The top team from each group advances to the Champion Division. The 1st and 2nd ranked teams in Champion Division enter the round grand final

PIST 2024 Executive Chairperson Diah Sunaryo said that Prambanan Temple contains noble values ​​that are in line with the meaning of this slowpitch sport, including the Ramayana relief depicting teamwork, archery reliefs that teach self-control and hone strategy and agility to achieve victory and others.

"PIST 2024 presents a unique experience, where participants and visitors can enjoy the competition with a view of the extraordinary splendor of Prambanan Temple. This will enrich the appeal of Prambanan, as a destination that is not only of historical and cultural value, but also participates in the development of sports in Indonesia," he explained.

President Director of PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko Febrina Intan plans to make the Prambanan International Slopitch Tournament (PIST) a regular event every year. “This PIST will be intellectual property (IP) from TWC Prambanan. Through PIST, we are committed to not only building tourism only, but also want to develop sports heritage tourism. Febrina Intan said that this event could be a catalyst to present agendas that unite sports, tourism, and culture, and provide a positive impact on the local tourism ecosystem. Holding this tournament at Prambanan Temple provides a different experience and brings together the spirit of competition with the beauty and depth of a strong culture. 

"This is our way to promote the tourism ecosystem in the Prambanan area in particular by integrating activities that carry greater meaning. Collaboration between sports and iconic destinations like this is a strategic step to raise awareness, not only about slowpitch, but also towards the richness of Indonesia's cultural heritage.

Slowpitch is a modification of softball that is intended as a recreational sport and is played by groups involving participants of various ages and genders. The difference between slowpitch is that the ball is thrown high from the pitcher to the batter.

Partha Baseball Softball Club Yogyakarta's Advisor, Wihana Kirana Jaya, said innovative, creative and collaborative steps were needed to develop the sport. softball become an event Sports Tourism international at the Prambanan Temple Tourism Park destination.
