InJourney Group Promotes Village Community Welfare through Food Security and Healthy Village Programs

The state-owned aviation and tourism sector holding company PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero) or InJourney Group collaborated with the Rabu Biru Foundation (RBF) to support food security and also improve the public health sector in Morobangun Hamlet, Jogotirto, Berbah, Sleman, Yogyakarta, Sunday (1/12/2024).

In implementing sustainable agricultural solutions and the Healthy Village Program, RBF is fully supported by InJourney and its subsidiaries, namely, InJourney Airports, InJourney Destination Management, InJourney Retail and InJourney Tourism Development Corporation as well as Pertamina International Shipping (PIS).

The agenda began with free health checks for the elderly and pregnant women. The local Posyandu was also given several health tools, for example, wheelchairs, tensiometers, and thermometers so that checks could be carried out continuously.

After that, to start the process of harvesting rice resulting from the assistance provided by Rabu Biru to the farmer groups, the Wiwitan procession was carried out as a form of gratitude to God Almighty and as a form of preserving local wisdom through the arts and culture that have developed in the surrounding community.

InJourney's HR and Digital Director, Herdy Harman, said that tourism is not only about how we promote and develop destinations, but also about how these destinations provide benefits to the surrounding community.

"As a BUMN holding in the aviation and tourism sector, InJourney is committed to becoming an agent of development that focuses on developing destinations and empowering the surrounding community. Especially for the community around Prambanan Temple which is also one of the tourist destinations that we manage," he said.

Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Rabu Biru Foundation, Chrisna Deva explained, RBF is serious about supporting national food security by utilizing empty land in various regions. He said, this program involves intensive training for farmers to utilize productive empty land to plant rice.

"The key is in the use of cutting-edge technology, such as drones to spray fertilizer. Imagine, one hectare (of rice fields) is sprayed with a drone. The time required is more efficient. If we have 40 hectares, we just move the drone, we sit back and the results increase by 40 percent," explained Chrisna.

The results of spraying fertilizer via drone can be seen in the harvest at the event. He explained that the use of organic liquid fertilizer spread via drone allows agricultural land productivity to increase by around 20-40 percent from the method previously used by local farmer groups.

"Assistance starts from plowing the fields, spreading seeds to selecting seedlings. We try to provide assistance every day, in every region. We will continue to control the farmers until the harvest season, after which they can be evaluated," he said.

The Chairperson of the Rabu Biru Foundation Board of Trustees, Siti Hediati Soeharto, appreciated the implementation of drone technology in the agricultural system in Morobangun Hamlet. She considered this application to be an example of how the future of agriculture in Indonesia can be realized.

"I really appreciate the use of modern technology such as drones in the agricultural system in Morobangun Village which makes the entire process much more efficient. We can imagine what if this innovation can be applied to all agricultural land in Indonesia, our agricultural products can certainly be much more productive and environmentally friendly," he added.

Jogotirto Village Head Mitha Mayasari said that agricultural innovations, such as providing organic fertilizer using drones, have been proven to increase the productivity of agricultural land in his village. In addition, this has been proven to maintain the sustainability of the agricultural ecosystem in its environment.

"We hope that we can continue to synergize and provide support for livestock and farmer groups in our area, so that farmers can obtain better welfare,"

The Head of Jogotirto Village also appreciated the healthy village program which includes a free health check-up program, health education for teenagers, and providing nutritious food.

"This motivates us to maintain the quality of health and balance of life. Hopefully, innovations and programs like this will continue to grow, not only in Morobangun village but also other villages in Indonesia," he explained.

Heriyadi, Head of the Aglo Jogotirto Mandiri Berbah Farmers Group Association (Gapoktan), explained that this assistance has an impact on 18 livestock groups and 18 farmer and food crop groups. He hopes that the cooperation and collaboration between Rabu Biru, InJourney and the farming community in Berbah, Sleman, can continue and provide real contributions to improving the welfare of the community.

"Hopefully this assistance can continue and can bring prosperity, not only to our group members, but also to the wider village community," he explained.
