10.500 Runners Enliven the 2024 Borobudur Marathon

The prestigious Bank Jateng Borobudur Marathon 2024 event is present at Borobudur Temple, Magelang, Central Java, Sunday (1/12/2024). The biggest running event in Central Java takes the start and finish location at Lumbini Field, Borobudur Temple Tourism Park complex. A total of 10.500 runners from various regions in Indonesia and abroad will explore the rural running route at the foot of the charming Menoreh Mountains.

Borobudur Marathon 2024 is divided into three categories, namely marathon, half marathon and 10K. This year the race was attended by 10.500 participants with foreign participants coming from 28 countries, including Kenya, Ethiopia, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Japan, Italy, China, the United States, and South Korea.

Carrying the theme Run On, Mark It! Bank Jateng Borobudur Marathon 2024 has proven to be able to drive the local economy, strengthen regional identity, and bring positive impacts to society and the environment. 

Acting Governor of Central Java, Nana Sudjana is satisfied with the implementation of the Bank Jateng Borobudur Marathon 2024. In addition to being successfully held, the annual event also grew the local economy. A number of business sectors can feel the benefits; including MSMEs, accommodation and transportation services.

"The multiplier effect is to increase the growth of MSMEs and local economic development," said Nana, after attending a series of events for the Bank Jateng Borobudur Marathon, in the Borobudur Temple area, Magelang Regency, Sunday (1/12/2024).

A total of 2.150 marathon category runners (42 kilometers) started the race from Lumbini Park, Borobudur Temple, on Sunday (1/12/2024), at around 04.30 WIB. The start was 30 minutes earlier than in previous years.

After the marathon race was released, it was the turn of 4.250 half marathon participants to start running at 05.00 WIB. This category is the most popular with a completion time limit of 3 hours 45 minutes. About 40 minutes later, the 10K (10 kilometers) race category began. This category is no less interesting.

This event is not only a world-class sports competition, but also for tourism promotion. Borobudur Temple as a World Cultural Heritage site surrounded by natural beauty and local culture presents an authentic experience for runners who can capture the Borobudur Marathon 2024 moment while taking selfies and enjoying the cool, pollution-free air.

PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko or InJourney Destination Management (IDM) fully supports the certified international event. GM Borobudur AY Suhartanto said that to support the 2024 Borobudur Marathon, IDM operated the Borobudur Art Village (KSB) earlier, namely at 02.00 WIB on Sunday, December 1, 2024 to accommodate the participants' vehicles. The Borobudur Art Village (KSB) provides a parking area with a capacity of thousands of motorized vehicles, with details of 850 cars and 400 motorbikes. 

Meanwhile, for regular tourist visits, specifically for the 2024 Borobudur Marathon event, it starts at 10.00:08.00 WIB. For general or regular tourists, a number of parking points are provided outside the Taman Wisata Candi area which starts operating at 11.30:6–XNUMX:XNUMX WIB. Meanwhile, specifically for regular tourists, they will pass through gate XNUMX which is located north of Borobudur Temple.
