Coordinating Minister AHY Committed to Preserving Borobudur World Cultural Heritage
Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono visited the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park area, Magelang, Central Java, Thursday (27/2/2025). While doing his morning jog, he also reviewed the results of the revitalization of zone II and the existence of the Borobudur Art Village as the main entrance to Borobudur Temple.
"The atmosphere is very pleasant, the air is cool even though the sun is quite hot, meaning it is still comfortable for exercising. Running while enjoying the natural scenery around Borobudur Temple, a masterpiece that of course we must preserve forever, legacy, the ancestral cultural heritage of the nation which is certainly not only the pride of Indonesia but also the world," explained Coordinating Minister AHY.
During his visit, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono emphasized his commitment to preserving World Cultural Heritage while developing regional economic and tourism potential. According to him, infrastructure development is more than just physical development, but also aims to maintain cultural values and improve the welfare of the surrounding community.
"This is a specially built area, both in terms of infrastructure and other facilities to present the Borobudur area as a truly world-class tourism destination. We want many tourists, both local and foreign tourists, to come to Borobudur to enjoy the natural scenery," he continued.
The government continues to be committed to developing the Borobudur Temple Super Priority Tourism Destination (DPSP) area, with the aim of preserving it as a World Cultural Heritage while developing the region's economic and tourism potential. This development not only focuses on infrastructure, but also on improving connectivity and creating a world-class tourism area that remains sustainable and inclusive for the local community.
"I am happy, the supporting infrastructure of the tourism area as well as the worship area at Borobudur Temple is getting better day by day. Earlier we saw the development of the Borobudur Art Village (KSB), there is a museum, there is a gallery, thousands of UMKM actors can sell their art and creativity and works to anyone. This is a local economic movement," he continued.
The arrangement of the Borobudur Temple DPSP by the Ministry of Public Works was carried out using an approach Historic Urban Landscape, which integrates cultural, environmental, and social aspects in a holistic manner. One of the main focuses is to maintain the carrying capacity and capacity of the area, which has been under pressure due to the high number of tourists.
"As the coordinating minister, I want to encourage all sectors, government and non-government, central and regional, to continue to advance tourism destinations as well as various supporting infrastructure facilities in this area," he concluded.
