Opening of Prambanan Toll Exit & Tamanmartani Functional Toll Road Has Potential to Increase Tourist Visits

The Prambanan Temple Tourism Park destination is predicted to be a favorite tourist destination for tourists during the 2025 Eid holiday. This is considering its position close to the Prambanan Toll Exit, Klaten and also the Tamanmartani functional toll road, Kalasan, Sleman, Yogyakarta. Easy and close access from this toll gate is expected to encourage tourists to come to this UNESCO World Cultural Heritage.

General Manager of Prambanan & Ratu Boko Temples of PT Taman Wisata Candi (TWC) or InJourney Destination Ratno Timur is optimistic that there will be a spike in the number of visitors during the 2025 Eid holiday season. The target number of tourists is estimated to reach 94.000 to 100.000 people. 

He also revealed that the peak visiting period is predicted to last for a week, starting from March 31, 2025 to April 6, 2025, with an average of 20.000 visitors to Prambanan Temple per day.

"If exit "The Prambanan toll road and the functional Kalasan toll road are already operational, I am sure this will be one of the factors that support the increase in the number of visitors to Prambanan," said Ratno Timur.

Furthermore, this number has doubled compared to visits on normal days which are only around 10.000 people per day. This optimism is further strengthened by the functional opening exit Prambanan and Tamanmartani toll roads. 

When compared to the target of tourist visits during the Lebaran holiday last year, this figure is almost twice as high. In 2024, the target of tourist visits is only around 50.000 to 60.000 people affected by the opening of exit functional toll road in Klaten, Central Java.

"Although some predictions of this holiday will experience a decline, we are optimistic because there are indeed some statistical predictions, be it the Ministry of Transportation, traffic, distribution data, data on top favorite destinations in Central Java and DIY. The top ones are Borobudur and Prambanan which are requested more than other destinations," he explained.

Meanwhile, the President Director of PT TWC Borobudur Prambanan and Ratu Boko Febrina Intan said that they will try to attract travelers who use toll roads to visit temple tourist destinations, one of which is by holding various interesting activities.

For Prambanan Temple, a program called “Lebaran di Candi” (Lebaran di Candi) with the theme “Kelana Cerita Tanah Jawa” (Javanese Story Travel). One of its featured activities is Pasar Medang, which presents various activities with an archipelago theme.

"In Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko, we have various interesting activities, especially in Prambanan, in Pasar Medang. In essence, we want to create a fun experience for visitors to our destinations, including TMII," said Febrina Intan.

In addition, in the Pasar Medang event, PT TWC will also present attractions of characters from the animated film Jumbo. One of the main attractions is the giant Jumbo statue as high as 10 meters which will definitely attract attention, especially for children tourists.

Therefore, the presence of the road exit The Prambanan and Tamanmartani toll roads are expected to facilitate tourist access to temple tourist destinations in Yogyakarta.
