Indonesian Vice President Attends the Great Tawur Kesanga Saka Year 1947 at Prambanan Temple
Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Gibran Rakabuming Raka attended the Tawur Agung Kesanga procession of the Saka Year 1947 at the Nandi Field, Prambanan Temple Tourism Park complex, Yogyakarta, Friday (28/3/2025). In his speech, he emphasized the diversity that is Indonesia's strength. He also touched on Nyepi and Lebaran which this year fall close together.
"We must be grateful, in addition to natural wealth, we are also blessed with extraordinary diversity from ethnicity to religion. Diversity is our strength. Differences unite, and we must maintain harmony and unity together," said the Vice President while attending the Tawur Agung Kesanga celebration, Friday (28/3).
Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar emphasized that his presence at the Tawur Agung event reflects the government's commitment to respecting and supporting religious diversity.
"Tawur Agung Kesanga does not only belong to Hindus, but is also part of the nation's cultural heritage that we must preserve together," he said.
This year, Tawur Agung Kesanga carries the theme “Manasewa, Madawasewa Realizing Golden Indonesia 2045”, as a reflection of the hopes of Hindus to contribute to national development.
The series of processions begins with mendak tirta (taking holy water), continues with pradaksina (circling the temple), and ends with the main ceremony where various offerings are presented for the balance of nature.
The government also continues to support the implementation of religious rituals as a form of respect for the right to worship of every citizen.
Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar invited the public to continue to strengthen tolerance and harmony in diversity. "With the spirit of unity, Indonesia is expected to continue to advance towards a better and more dignified future in the eyes of the world," he concluded.
