Synergy to Maintain Sustainable Cleanliness of Borobudur Temple Ahead of Waisak 2569 BE
Ahead of Waisak 2569 BE, InJourney Destination Management through PT Taman Wisata Borobudur collaborated with Kawan Lama Solution and the Borobudur Cultural Heritage Museum to clean the area around Borobudur Temple, Magelang, Central Java, Monday (28/4/2025).
The cleaning process includes the main courtyard area of Borobudur Temple, public access routes, and special areas that will be used for worship processions and religious activities ahead of Waisak. This initiative is part of the synergy of various parties in presenting modern solutions that have a positive impact on the preservation of Indonesia's historical sites and continuing the commitment to preserving culture and the environment.
Business Support Group Head of PT Taman Wisata Borobudur, Ayunanto, said that the collaboration is in line with InJourney's mission to continue to encourage the management of cultural-based tourist destinations and environmental sustainability.
"We welcome the Clean Solution initiative as part of a concrete effort to maintain the comfort and cleanliness of the Borobudur Temple area ahead of Waisak Day," he explained.
According to Ayunanto, the Clean Solution program is a real example of how cultural heritage preservation can go hand in hand with technological innovation, as long as it is done responsibly. "We hope that collaborations like this can continue and inspire other business actors to get involved in managing destinations that are more sustainable and have a positive impact," he said.
Vice President of National Sales Operation Hendrian Susanto stated that ahead of the implementation of the 2025 Waisak Day, the Kawan Lama Solution team carried out a thorough cleaning process at various strategic points in the Borobudur Temple complex. He explained that the entire cleaning process was carried out using various sophisticated equipment from Nilfisk from Denmark.
Some of the units used include the ATTIX 50 for fine dust suction in the temple area, the Core 125 and C110E as high pressure cleaner to remove moss thoroughly, as well as LS430, SC351, and SC2000 for cleaning stair areas, paving, and path concourse wider.
“All of these devices not only excel in cleaning performance, but are also designed with environmentally friendly features and are safe for historic structures,” he said.
This placement was carefully chosen so that the cleanliness efforts carried out could have a direct impact on the comfort and experience of visitors, while also supporting the smooth running of the holy celebration.
"During the Waisak celebration, Borobudur will be used as a place of worship for Buddhists and visited by thousands of people from all over, we want to ensure that the temple environment remains clean and comfortable, so that it can support the smoothness and solemnity of worship," he said on the sidelines of the activity, Monday (28/4/2025).
Through the Clean Solution program, he continued, Kawan Lama Solution seeks to make a real contribution to preserving Indonesia's cultural heritage through a modern, responsible and sustainable approach.
"With the support of cleaning technology from Nilfisk, we present an effective solution while maintaining the authenticity and care in maintaining historical sites. Hopefully, this step can be a collaborative inspiration in maintaining the nation's cultural heritage sustainably," he concluded.
