15th Kagyu Monlam at Borobudur Temple
Dozens of sangha monks and hundreds of Vajrayana Buddhists gathered in the Borobudur Temple area to carry out the Kagyu Monlam. The activity, which has been going on for fifteen years, aims to spread true peace, love, happiness, and prosperity to the world.
The event, which took place in the Marga Utama area of the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park complex, Magelang, Central Java for three days, was attended by Bhikkhu sangha and people from within and outside the country, including Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei and others.
Commercial Group Head of Borobudur Tourism Park AY Suhartanto, who opened the 15th Kagyu Monlam event, said that the 15th year of the event is in line with the future development of Borobudur, which is focused on becoming a center for organizing spiritual activities and local arts and culture.
"Currently, Borobudur is specifically for cultural activities, spiritual activities. This event has been held for fifteen years at Borobudur temple. Hopefully, this prayer and activity can be a blessing for us, for all Borobudur people and all of you," he explained.
Kagyu Monlam was opened with social activities by giving charity to the poor and releasing animals (fangshen) in the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park area. Kagyu Monlam also carried out Atthasila which began with taking the eight precepts or Sojong precepts, reciting puja mantras, including Aksobhya puja, Tara puja, Dharmapala puja.
