This year's Waisak will fall on Monday, May 12 at 23.55.29 WIB, which will end with pradaksina or walking around Borobudur Temple 3 times. At the peak of the event on May 12, 2025, 2569 lanterns will be released as a symbol of the light of peace. The release of these lanterns is usually a magnet that attracts people to attend the Waisak celebration at Borobudur Temple.
Ticket sales for the National Waisak Lantern Festival have opened on March 4, 2025. Participants are required to wear all white and modest clothing. Participants are also prohibited from wearing shorts, short skirts, sleeveless or transparent clothes.
The 2569 BE Waisak celebration will also be enlivened by social services in the form of free medical treatment, minor surgery, dental surgery, and distribution of reading glasses for the community around Borobudur.
InJourney Destination Management (IDM) Director, Febrina Intan said, her party will cooperate with stakeholders to ensure that the entire series of events until the peak of the commemoration runs smoothly and safely. During the week of the Waisak celebration series, it is estimated that more than 40.000 Buddhists will visit Borobudur Temple.
"Waisak is not just a celebration, but also a deep feeling that connects the soul with noble values. To provide a deep experience, IDM presents several side events that will be enjoyed by visitors who attend the 2025 Waisak celebration moment," said Febrina Intan.
The series of events include the title "Unveiling Borobudur" which will invite visitors to take a 3-day 2-night journey to experience harmony in family relationships through balance created by oneself. Through the mindfulness and reflection methods, the values of understanding, compassion, patience, harmony and wisdom will be increasingly felt.
One of the series of Unveiling Borobudur is Mindful Walking Pradaksina with Hendrik Tanuwidjaja, which was inspired by the Pradaksina ritual performed by the Cakravartin of the Syailendra Dynasty in Borobudur, this meditation provides an opportunity for all participants to feel peace, wisdom, and positive energy in a sacred atmosphere.
In addition, there is also Pasar Medang as one of the IP (Intellectual Property) events from IDM, returning to Waisak this year, inviting visitors to find traces of old wisdom, warm greetings, the aroma of spices, and the light of hearts that shine on each other. Pasar Medang will present 60 UMKM tenants located in the Plaza Beringin ex-Main Gate area. Visitors will not only experience various old daharans, ramban daharans and anyaran daharans, but also various attractions and workshops.

In addition, more than 1.000 local workers were also involved, both in terms of logistics, welcoming, service, and event management.
