Commemoration Moment of the Tri Suci Waisak Day 2569 BE at Sewu Prambanan Temple
Sewu Temple or Manjusri Grha It is a cultural heritage site that served as a place of worship on the Tri Suci Waisak Day of 2569 BE. The prayer, held by the Indonesian Buddhayana Family (KBI), was attended by thousands of Buddhists from various regions, including Central Java, Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Palembang, Lampung, Banjarmasin, and Papua.
The Meaning of the Vesak Celebration in the Sewu Temple Area
This simple ritual was followed by the people who crowded the eastern area of Sewu Temple from noon to night before the seconds of Waisak which fell at 23.59.29 WIB. The procession began with a procession of worship facilities from Lumbung Temple to the main altar at Sewu Temple. The procession continued with the sanctification of the altar, a ritual of devotional worship, meditation before the seconds of Waisak and closed with a pradaksina around Sewu Temple.
Head of the Waisak Committee of Sewu Temple Daryono said that the commemoration of the Tri Suci Waisak Day at Sewu Temple carries the theme of the Spirit of Togetherness for Advanced Indonesia. This annual celebration is a spiritual and social momentum that arouses the spirit of tolerance and national unity.
"Indonesia is our big home together. The diversity of culture, ethnicity, religion, race and class is a blessing that must be maintained. The universal values of the Buddha's teachings are very relevant to strengthen the spirit of diversity and unity," explained Daryono.
Director of Buddhist Affairs and Education of the Indonesian Ministry of Religion, Nyoman Suriadarma, expressed his appreciation to the committee and all parties who have supported the implementation of this year's Waisak celebration.
"I really appreciate the Indonesian Buddhayana Family who with enthusiasm and dedication managed to organize this event. I also express my gratitude to the Klaten Regent, the Ministry of Culture, and the management of the Temple Tourism Park for the support of facilities and spaces that allow Buddhists to celebrate Waisak in various temples in Indonesia," said Nyoman.

At the Dharmasanti event, the Sumunaring Manjushri Grha dance drama performance was presented, telling the story of the glory of Bodhisattva Manjushri as a figure who symbolizes wisdom and transcendent insight. According to Daryono, in the Buddhayana tradition, Sewu Temple is known as Manjushri Grha or a place that is considered to be the embodiment of the values of wisdom and harmony.
"This performance is a symbol of the shining of Manjushri's house again, as well as a reminder that the noble values inherited from our ancestors through architecture and spiritual teachings can continue to illuminate the lives of today's society," he explained.
The commemoration of Waisak 2569 BE at Sewu Temple was attended by a number of figures, including the Regent of Klaten Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo, the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Supreme Sangha Bhikkhu Khemacaro Mahathera, the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Buddhayana Council Amin Untario, the Chairperson of the Indonesian Buddhist Women Lucy Salim, the General Chairperson of Permabudhi Philip K. Widjaja, the Chairperson of LPTGN, David Herman Jaya, and the Chairperson of Commission XII of the Indonesian House of Representatives Bambang Patijaya and several other invitees.
